Is Powder coating stock a arms possible?

Recommended Posts

I want to powder coat my stock a arms, but i do not want to ruin my plastic ball joint bushings in an oven. Ive been hearing people talk about UV light curable power coatings on the internet and someone mentioned it to me on this forum, but no one around my area offers that type of powder coating. Just wanted to know if people on this board have herd or tried this type of powder coating and if they know of anyone who does this type of powder coating. Any help would be appreciated!

yes it is possible and you got it you have to cure it with the light... send a message to kaotik1 he doe coating and he can help you out, he has done stockers before

If you have a expierenced Coater who has been ridding and Powdrecoating since 1985 then I would trust them. I have had a couple sets done by him. He calls it flash baking. Takes about 3 - 4 days to get it done. only 5 -15 min in the oven.

From what I have been told so don't take this as truth since I have never seen it but The IR baking tends to be softer. I was told you can put a figer nail imprint into it but it won't flake off. Like anything the quality of the end result has to do with how good was the prep work.

Yeah, you can, but like the above posters said make sure you get someone that knows what theyre doing. It's not gonna be cheap either. I've heard a lot of bad stories about the ball joints getting baked, you really need to put a lot of heat tape around them before you cook the the arms.

How old are the arms anyway? The BJs on my stockers didn't last very long doing trails. I know I wouldnt dish out any $$ on the stockers just to have the BJs go out in a year or two and have the arms be junk. I would probably end up painting them if they looked bad, a lot cheaper. Otherwise, you can find used +2+1s for around 200.
