Fireroad Express
I here you guys on here all the time talking about how you waxed a 450r. But my friend has one and I have the mods listed below. I can't keep up with him. He gets me out of the hole and I don't pull him any. I know that hrc kit wakes them up but I thought we were suppose to come back on the top end. Now in the sand with my pro wedges and them with there sand sharks I eat them up because the tires swell and I get more topend but is there something I'm missing or is these just the nature of the beast. i noticed in your mod list your timing was set at zero degrees. if it was me, i would crank it ahead to at least +4. it makes a significant difference. do you know what you are running for compression? what elevation do you ride at? gregrob
I was wondering the same thing, why do you have an adjustable timing plate if you're going to leave it set at zero LOL. I would crank it up to +4 at least, that will help you get out of the hole a lot better. Also check to make sure the clearance is right on your magneto so you're getting the right spark. Swaie
Okay, sorry for taking so long to post. This is where I stand. I have a killer topend. The only problem is that they get me out of the hole so bad that the race is over by the time I start coming around them. They get me out of the hole about 3 to 4 bike lengths and by the end of ft I have pulled back to 1. We did a 600ft race and they got me again by the 3 to 4 bike lengths out of the hole and I beat him by 4 and still pulling. The problem is my launch on pavement. I can't keep the frontend down when the power comes on. If I lower the front or the back, or maybe even both will this help. But I still ride trails and in the sand pit and hit the jumps every now and then. Will that help? That's why I haven't advanced my timing. I have enough problems out of the hole.

dajogejr
If your bike is in proper tune, it's you...not the bike. Learn to slip the clutch not dump it.
KEVSWS6
Are you launching in 2nd gear while feathering that clutch?

SandShots
i have an 05trx 450r dune bike, not settup for drag but can hang with some. ive beat many banshees, im not claiming that its fast but a banshee with pipes and pistons is not gonna catch me. my bike does not have an hrc kit but has something like it... cam, piston, portwork, and untuned. it does not have a rev box. if your banshee has work on it you should be able to beat my bike, maybe more compression. on sand, tire selection and gearing is whats gonna do it.
