RAZR 2'S or Holeshot XCT's

Ok, I've been riding more dirt lately, and the place I've been going is full of rocks on the trails. Popped a stocker front, and the rears are shot. I want 23" fronts and 22" rears to get as much clearance as i can. I can get either Holeshot XCT's, or the Maxxis RAZR 2's in those sizes. Which ones should i get? Price wise, they are within a few bucks from Rocky mountain, so cost isn't an issue. Also thinking of getting the ITP t9 baja rims. Anybody using these? Are they worth the extra coin over the regular t9's. Thanks Phil

Yeah them Razr IIs are a hard tire to beat for dirt riding. 23" and 22" are pretty big I think youde be safe with 22s and 20s on the rear. Plus you wont lose as much bottom end with that combo.

I've got razr2 fronts right now, they're the best turning tire IMO. I've had the T-9 bajas in the past and they're stronger than the regular T-9's but they will still bend with a good hit. Have you considered the Kenda's? They make a 21" inch XC rear, I think the 22" are a little much as far as gearing and losing bottomend for trails.

I used the XCT's for about 3 years.. They didn't wear fast for me but I dont ride on any roads or anything like that. I really liked the XCT's. They had great traction on soft stuff. Actually worked pretty well in the sand also. I sold them and bought XCR's for my 450. Got no complaints about'em. I probably wont buy anything but holeshots since I've had such great luck with them.

Phil, get your best price on the 22" razr2's and then give me a call. I ended up with a set I cant use, never mounted brand new ,still zip-tied to the packing cardboard.. Ill make you a great deal...Jim

I ride in tons of rocks and dirt and have always used the razrs. I havent tried the 2's yet but I have the older ones in 6 ply and they are bulletproof. They are so awesome.

I had XCRs as well...great tire, but when I trail rode, it was more or less pretty open fire road/open trail kinda stuff. The tight, twisty rocky stuff isn't for me.

My buddy had Razor 2s on his bike, and if I had to choose...I'd probably go with the Razrs...they are meaty som bitches for sure...

I know the XCRs I had were 6 ply, not sure if the 2's are, might be something to consider given your flat problems as of late....

yea the razr 2's are 6 ply, and hold up alot better on rough trails than any holeshots, especially those xcr's, my friend had a set and blew tons of holes and the tread was gone in like 8 rides, i had razr 2's then switched to holeshot gncc's when they wore out, and regret it totally, my gncc's look like they are 3 seasons old but only have about 8 good rides on them.. they have no shoulder knobs or reinforcement , i have no holes in them thankfully, but if you are riding rough trails with all sorts of terrain its p retty hard to beat the razr 2 for toughness and traction and durability

Just sent jim a PM. I am definitely interested. AS far as the loss of bottom end, i figured I would drop a 13 tooth front sprocket on when i use the taller tires and go back to the 14 when the sand tires are on.
