ronniesraptor
last year i got a drag banshee from a guy that had too much money and too many toys. it had some hard lawnmower tires on it when i bought it and it spun most of the 1/8 mile. i put some american racers on it and burnt up the clutch on it. it was a brand new clutch but i think something was wrong with it because when the clutch was pulled in it would move forward. im going to put the clutch mod with cover for 375 from fast and an inner and outer hub. should i get another lock-up or is that a good one to get? also when i leave with a lock-up will it be like BAM and go or can i still feather it untill i get in the gas? i dont really know what to expect. any ideas or sugestions will be aprreciated. sorry if this doesnt make much sence
bansheefreak
you can add or take away weights from the lockup to regulate how hard the clutch engages...

ronniesraptor
its got the stock cylinders that are bored 30 over and a full drag port with cpi inframe drag pipes. with 20x10x10s and a 6 over swingarm what would be a place to start for 1/8 mile gearing? 2bzy2p
its out of adjustment is why it was creeping which caused your clutches to burn up.

Since it doesn't have a lockup, I'm going to assume it doesn't have an override in it yet...right?

Hilarious
thanks. anybody wanna chime in on if the fast cover and clutch mod are any good. im assuming they are from what i hear about fast I assume you are talking about the lockup clutch? The one I got from Jeff is made by direct drive and it is the shiznit, so to speak. I have noticed no slippage what so ever with mine.

BB3
i heard its hard to shift with a lock up .. unless u have a overide...... thats hear - say.... That is true in a way. Best thing if not running a lockup get a good clutch and stiff spring's and make sure the clutch is set dead on. If you want to run a lockout i would suggest a override for sure. dajogejr
i heard its hard to shift with a lock up .. unless u have a overide...... thats hear - say.... That depends on a lot. Rider weight, track setup, load on engine, gearing, etc. Lockup and override need to go hand in hand. My point would be this, if you have the power to require a lockup, you'll need an override anyway. I don't know too many trail bikes with lockups on them...and this guy is looking to race pavement. You tune how much the clutch hooks out of the hole with clutch springs. You tune how hard it locks up with weights on the lockup, whether it's bolts/nuts on a direct drive style or the amount of ball bearings you use on a slingshot style... J-Madd
i heard its hard to shift with a lock up .. unless u have a overide...... thats hear - say.... Wasn't true with my 421, but every case is different. I could shift easily; but the hardest part was holding on while trying to clutch and keep from wheelieing...I looked like I was riding a bull a couple times when my hand slipped off of the left grip. MUCH easier to ride with the override, though.
dajogejr
Each is own... I let 3 or 4 people ride my 421 on gas with no override and no lockup, it was shitty at best..
