i just bought my shee about a month ago and Ive been throwing a lot of money into it since..Ive been doing some trail riding lately and this thing has really bad low end power when i have to cruise through a slow section of the trails it just bogs down bad it seems like its either in powerband wide open or its bogging i was thinking maybe getting some different pipes or something to help the low end a little my mods are:

pro design cool head (stock domes)

V-force reeds

K&N pods with velocity stacks

Pro circuit inframe exhaust

ricky stator timing plate +4 advance

stock gearing

what other mods can i do to get better low end? and should i go with different pipes?

1 into 2 carb. Pipes are actually good trail pipes.

What is your pilot, and have you adjusted your air screw?

You've got a motor designed to rev to the moon without power valves, you could detune the shit out of it, or get a real trail bike, a newer 450 4 stroke. Better motor for trails and leaps and bounds better suspension....

ok so this is probably related to the jetting issue im having...i keep fouling plugs so its goin in the shop next week to get tuned..i also have a 2003 warrior and its just not as fun to ride on the trails i know a 4 stroke is better for trails but there just not fun to ride after riding the shee around..plus i also do some riding on open dirt roads and its nice to have the extra power for them..what do you guys think of the pro circuit pipes how do they rate?

Banshees can make great trail bikes. It's not going to be the fastest through the trails, but I have yet to find anything that is more fun, and it still holds its own. If your bogging in the low end, like the other users said your jetting is probably off. Otherwise, the only way your going to get any more low end is with a stroker or a 2 into 1 carb.

 You drag racers never get it.

Over the last 15 years i've ridden more combos of banshees than I can remember, from bolt ons to full blown ported strokers and everything in between.

Can you make a banshee a good trail bike? Sure....

you can't honestly and realistically tell me it can be done easier and cheaper than a new current 4 stroke 450 quad...

Trying to make torque out of a motor that doesn't have it out of the factory...and a near 20 year old suspension design, c'mon.....

I'm not going to muddy up this thread with another trail banshee debate, but I think(maybe it's just me) that comments like "get a real trail bike" are kind of counter productive to the whole topic. Youve given me tons of good advice, and I know you help a lot of people on this message board, but I don't think that's good advice, especially when there are tons of people on this board that are using banshees for trail bikes.

So, I'm going to stick with my original statement, you can have one fun trail bike with a few suspension mods, and a little engine work. I paid 1500 for my 2001 Banshee, and I put about 5-6k into it so far, still less then the price of a brand new YFZ. I pretty much have a brand new bike, and it is definately a blast to ride. As a matter or fact before I went through my current build I could hang with just about any rider that was the same skill level as me.
