Bigvincent
Stock Stroke Drag Port Stock head PWK 33's 42 pilot 155 Main DGL (i think) needles on 2nd clip from top. Air screw 1 turn out. Starts fine but one side pops a little. When i start in first it wants to stall if i don't get it up near 3/4 throttle. Top end seems to be ok for five min but then stalls out. When plugs are pulled out they are soaking wet. (that is a good sign of it being too rich, right?) Every post I read seems to have 33's in this range but I think since I have the stock stroke this may be too rich? Not sure any help will be greatly appreciated. If the plugs are soaking wet then you are definitely too rich. As for the PWK 33's, I don't have much experience with them so I don't know what to tell you as far as jet sizes. Hope this helps a little. Edited November 6, 2007 by mall0y
brian
It is really hard to compare other's carb settings for the same size carbs. Alot of things affect jetting. Elevation, temperature, and humidity make huge differences. Not to mention engine mods, pipes, dome size, air filters, etc.... It does sound like you are running pretty rich. Did you just put these carbs in ? Or have they been in there a while ? Is this problem new ?
Bigvincent
Thanks guys. Good to know I am not a complete idiot, and I know when I am running rich. The carbs are new I just got done a rebuild so I am kinda pissing in the dark with this jetting. It pretty much started as soon as I put them on, and I have been working my way down from a 52 pilot and a 162 main. My elevation is sea level. And I am trying to jet for the winter temps, so I gues like 45-55 (or colder) degrees if that makes sense. What would be normal incriments of lowering jet sizes? go down by 5's or 10's? What do you think I should try next (as far as jetting) to get me closer to the bullseye? Thanks for the help!
brian
I dont know for sure what to tell you, but I can tell you what I have going. I have a 4mil stroker with 20cc domes in a coolhead with CPI Inframes and K&N pod filters. Running 35mm PWKs. 45 pilot (a little too rich still) 2nd deck from the blunt end on needle (prolly close or a little lean when the main is right) 160 main (too rich, prolly wind up around 150-155) Keep in mind I was running at 60 degs.
