trex banshee
Stock: Cleaned Up: damn you done that with a file??? how long did that take?? If you really want to get into porting or to just do it for personal uses and don't mind spending the money get you some tools from foredom or C.C. specialties...they both have a nice setup the kits really aren't too pricey especially if you get a couple sets under your belt they will pay for themselves..one thing about it though you must have patience patience patience...and like already said be willing to spend some cash on cylinders  Just cutting the intake and polishing the exhaust will get you great results along with a good carb, pipe setup. I ported the black and white bike in my sig and it amazed me on how it runs. Its outrun a few bikes ported by local shops.
Dinner
so after you took more away what hwere the results?? did u gain more power basically everywhere?? still the same power characteristics just more of it? Well once I was done the 2 clean ups..it revved quicker and once up top it revved a bit higher(even though the pipes fall off at a certain RPM)....Didn't really notice any power down low..some old throttle response there, but once in the mid rpm, upper rpm she will pull harder than it ever did. Yea I guess you could say it's the same characteristics of stock...just better power and rev quicker...hope this helps.

Used ones that are round, semi round, flat, angled, triangular, etc. I think it turned out pretty good for just hand files and my first clean up. I would like to take it apart again this winter and do even more, and being as I have a full time job, if i screw them up i can buy another set of cylinders  And it took about 5 hours the first time and 3 the second time I believe
sheerider1026
so what did u do to the transfers?? make them bigger and smoother? i know that in stock form they looke pretty smalle and chokey.. there is also some aluminum material in the transfers that rest agings the sleeve, kind of a hump.. i wonder if it would be wise to smooth and thin that part down some?? did u open the exhaust port up a lot?? also how do u guys feel about rz motors?? looking at a shee with one on it but everything is not there to make the pv"s work.. it does run good though

Mine had so many little bumps and crack sticking out it was stupid. So I smoothed everything out, and then I took my files and narrowed down the transfers a bit, making them more sharp I guess you could say. I didn't touch the transfers all that much due to I didn't want to screw them up too much. I forget my measurement of how much I opened the exhaust port...I had it written down somewhere for all my measurements so maybe I can find it again. But I opened them a little bit yes, nothing drastic, but something that I thought was decent in my eyes, and wouldn't affect compression at all (obviously I would have to take a lot away or screw them up good to affect that). I made them a bit wider as well. It was more so to open the exhaust up (side, bottom a tiny bit, and top) so that it would flow better...I will try to find my measurements and all that jazz tonight. Sorry if i am not explaining myself very well. I just don't know really how to explain it good. I read, read, and read some more on porting, measurements and all of that before I touched my cylinders. Sure im no pro but it helped me understand some things. ccspecialtygirl
Porting is not every backyard mechanics job, but I have to say, I have my own shop in SA and around here theres not a lot of people that can do a good job so I have done some RGV250s and CRs with really good results, I have messed up some cylinders and done ### jobs as well, but my suggestion is, get a old pair of cylinders and try it on them, If this is something you want to do, you will have to start somewhere. I am still teaching myself and working threw books like A GRAHAM Bell's 2 stroke performance tunning and so on. But this is a trick thing especially when you get into port timings and transfer angles, but I love it and gonne push on in my shop till I get good results. One day all the good builders will not be there anymore, so there have to be new ones to take their places and in my opinion its only experience and 2 stroke technical info that will get you in the forefront of things oh yeah dont forget the $$$ Hope you bought that book from CC Specialty!! That book is pretty thick but we have a lot of customers who say it has helped them a lot. I know this post was years ago but I've just been searching through here trying to see what everyone has to say about porting these days. Lots of Love from Tennessee
