jaredvh
One of my exhaust pipes smokes way more than the other. I assume this is just a carb tuning issue. Can somebody confirm? Thanks

Snopczynski
What color is the smoke, and does it smell like 2 stroke oil? Which side is doing it?
jaredvh
What color is the smoke, and does it smell like 2 stroke oil? Which side is doing it? It is definitely 2 stroke oil burning, and it is the right side that smokes more. Edited October 23, 2007 by jaredvh
Snopczynski
Does it billow out when you roll on the throttle?
jaredvh
Does it billow out when you roll on the throttle? Yes it does, when I jump on it there is about 3 times more smoke out of the right side.

If so try changeing the slides to the other carb, sounds crazy but the same happened to me
jaredvh
have you had your carbs out recently. If so try changeing the slides to the other carb, sounds crazy but the same happened to me I was hoping the carbs were just tuned differently and one was running richer than the other. Is this a possibility?
Snopczynski
Not if it just started doing it.

Snopczynski
Well pull the carbs off and clean them. More than likely its a crankseal, but your gonna need to tell. It smells slightly different, and usually looks slightly different than 2 stroke oil. If if is coming out like a mofo, thats what it has to be. Other than that, check the compression. fracas
Im having this same problem. But Im not blowing any smoke out of the left side.
Animalman294
Yeah, I have the same problem on my cub. I get noticeably more smoke out the right pipe, and that pipe is actually cooler than the left. When I check the plugs the right side is wet with no noticeable smoke ring, while the left pipe is hotter and dry with a perfect smoke ring. The motor was just rebuilt with the cubby, so the crank seal is not an issue and the compression is fine at 185. The thing that I was leaning towards was the coil. I think the right plug wire is not as good a spark or as consistant which would explain the unburnt fuel (blue smoke) and the wet plug on one side. Plus would not show a smoke ring if it wasn't burning the fuel completely............. Just my .02
