bigwake
my kick starter rattles like an alarm clock when running..how are the rebuild kits? and are there any that are better than others? thanx
chevy7398
you can buy the spring, check ball, o ring and bolt from yamaha cheaper than you can get one of those kits for, as long as the kicker lever itself is not wore out inside they work great

Does the ball bearing have to be pressed in or anything? Ive never opened one up. Thanks

bk_banshee
When you take the screw out a ball and spring fall out. It's easy to replace. If you have some slop in the two pieces like many do. Chroming actually adds some material and with a new ball, spring and O-ring it's better then new. BansheeRider71
Check out Cascade www.cascadeinnovations.com, they sell the rebuild kits and also have a chrome one that has already been rebuilt that they sell too.
shee rips
i did the cascade rebuild kit too. it helped a lot, but after a few rides it started rattling a bit again. i went to a machine shop and found a tapered spring and used about half an inch of it. just put it above the post in there so it keeps pressure on both peices. hope you can understand what im trying to say lol but there is no rattle whatsoever anymore. dajogejr
I got a rebuild kit, been a year...and it was like 10 or 15 bucks. Get a billet kick starter and you won't have to worry about it again....or just rebuild it once a year...
jbirdman
Just another nod to Holyman's fix here. I redid mine somewhen around 3 years ago and it's still quiet as a mouse. Well worth the effort imo!
