Exhaust Research:

Thinking of "upgrading" my exhaust because I have those "crappy" FMFs and the grass always looks sooooo much greener on the other side of the fence. I've had people tell me that my Fattys are great and only get better the more mods you do to the motor while others have said I'd get just as good performance from a Briggs & Stratton muffler. :yelrotflmao:

So last night I found some non-archived dyno runs that used to be posted on the Toomey Website as an advertising tool for their T6 series pipes.

What I find interesting is that even in their own dyno runs, Toomey finds the FMFs outperformed the good ol' T5!! No wonder they took this off their site!!! :whistling:

Check out the comparo: Have an opinion? Was thinking of going from Fattys to T5s or CPIs for sand only.

toomeytr6toomeyt5dynogrho4.gif

T5s pull 48HP peak.

toomeytr6fmfsstdynograplq6.gif

FMFs pull 51HP and peak higher than T5s.

toomeytr6paulturnerdynoth4.gif

Paul Turners hit 51HP.

toomeytr6procircuitdynoqb2.gif

Pro Circuit flattens at 50HP.

CPIs obviously not the right chamber for a stock motor!!!

I don't really know how relevant any of this info is for me since my motor is +4 stroked, ported, and carbed.

Anyone know of a source of dyno runs of multiple exhaust manufacturers performed on a modded motor?

looks like someone drew those graphs in 6th grade computer class

i dont buy any of them for a minute

now that i look at all of them, i have to ask.. was this toomey website pushing their t6? haha

edit* im an idiot and didnt read the text, any dyno on a manufactures website is bogus, they are pulling 50+ hp with these pipes on stock motors? ya..

Where you been hiding at? I thought you already got a set of CPI's?

Hey Josh,

I've been hiding at Mission/Pacific Beach. http://www.sundiego.com/surf_cams_mission.php

I'm the guy with the flip-flop tan. Where have you been?

Here in San Diego, no one is riding right now. We don't ride in the summer!!

The first big weekend at Glamis is Halloween....I'll prolly get out there before that though.

I'm gonna mount up my CPI's in a couple of weeks.

Do you think there will be a big jetting change for me? It's running a little fat right now with my Fattys.

You gotta head out one year.....I've got room for you in the MoHo..

I made the same exhaust change, about a year, and a half ago, and you will have to change your jetting. I had to go down on the pilot jet, several sizes, and up several sizes on the main. I think I also had to change the clip on the needle, but it's been long enough since I did it, that I can't remember the exact changes I made, so I'm probably not the "help", that you were looking for. LOL
