Nah, no secret...if he looked around the forums, he'd know...

Just gonna try out some Lectrons setup by Packard, Dan...

I've gotten enough runs in with my current setup to know how it runs, if I can bolt on these carbs, tune 'em a bit...and do better, great....if not, no biggie...

If you have never messed with the eletrons they are woderful and so easy to tune. Just make sure you are runing the P.E.1 needle. If Dennis set them up i'm sure you have the right needle. If you would like som help with them hit me up. I would be happy to help a fellow drag racers.

Hey 421...I just say this post, and thank you very much for your help.

I've been talking with camatv over on PS for help...and I'll probably take you up on that...

I've disassembled the carbs, and they're pretty self explanatory...I guess, as said, the biggest thing is getting the correct needle.

Bike seems responsive just fine in my garage...I'm gonna start with the PJ's 5 turns out and read a plug...go from there.

They are 40/44 Lectrons, bored to 41.5, and they were setup for a 10 mil twister motor for the 1/8 mile...with a pump.

So, getting fuel to my 10 mil cub over 300 feet shouldn't be a problem....:)

Less than a week away guys...looking forward to it for sure. Hoping Jankab can make it out...and I'm gonna try like hell to get Bob out there this week or next week if the T&T happens.

He's got a new house which has been strapping him pretty tightly, we all know how that is.

However, the last time he rode is the last time I got him to Bob's...and it's been a WHILE for him. I know he's gotta be dying.

We were hoping for one more dune trip this year, I just don't have the coin for it...to be honest. I owe the dunes a beating after two times out earlier this year with not much luck for me. however, the last time my bike was there...it ran pretty good...wish I could've made it.

His wife started a new job, and he needs good notice for her to get time off/day off.

I honestly see him making a T&T before he'll make a race...although I keep trying to tell him, if he could get consistent on that 4 poke, he could win a few bucks!!!

We'll see... I might take a trip down to Evan's this week to help him get a bike moving for this weekend...I know he's only rode Memorial and Labor day weekends...and he's gonna have a bike up for sale...so, he wants to go prove/test it at the track.

I'm hoping my Lectrons work out...If so I'll ponder the idea of selling my Keihin alky carbs....:)

My experience with the needle tuning is not how many turns. But you need to use gauge on them to get them perfect. All carbs are a little differant but I would start by setting the needle at 47mm. I have a 4mil and they are set at 48mm. I know it doesnt sound like much of a difference but it is. you might need to go more like 46.5 or even less but 47mm is a good start. but do what you want just tryin to help out some. good luck hope your bike screams.

and a nother thing like I said im not telling you how do do it. just some things to be sure of. If you are pumping them make sure both floats are in and if your are not puping them have just one and make sure that the tap that is on the float is sitting out on the end of the float tab.

Pretty much what I did Friday...used a digital calipers to make sure they are even...they were a bit off, now they're within .020 MM of each other...I don't think I can get it much closer, still have the needle sit right, and have it able to twist equally both ways.

I did read 47mm was the average starting point, I want to say mine are at 46.6 or 46.7...I know it was mid 46's...and that's richer than 47...so, I'm good with that. It started second kick, and seemed to free rev ok...

I do have to take it apart again when I get my new cable from Packard...I will remeasure them...let you know what I end up with.

Time will tell...:)

I meant I had the PJs (Power Jets) 5 turns out from the fully seated position, not the needles...:)

But I appreciate you taking the time to read my post and add to it....!!

Both floats are in, the pin is farther away from the needle seat (end of the tab).

I took one apart...and didn't pay attention to how they came off, so...cracked the other one open just to be sure....

cam told me the same thing. If you go without a pump, take a float out. It already has big bowls on them, and I plan on running a pump..I like the insurance!!

one other thing to check to be sure of is that you have the right needle and seed in it. should be 3.3. if you have all that you should be fine and you'll love the Packard cable. I put it on mine and they were both crabs were ensign perfect. hope to see you out there im going to put my stock plastic back on my bike they have I nice custom lay out on them by universal graphics.

yeah..I got anxious and just wanted to hear it run with the new carbs...so I trimmed 1/4 inch off my cable. Packard doesn't take credit card, paypal..etc. So...Friday I overnighted him a check, I'll probably have my cable Wednesday with any luck. EVERYONE said it is a very, very nice piece of hardware...

Are the needle and seats removable in these carbs? I know the fuel pumper Keihins you can't remove the seat.

I'm gonna take 'em apart and drain/clean 'em before the weekend (I'm anal about cleaning the carbs and alky...)

And again..thanks for the pointers.

Is this your first time to Bobs?? Please stop by and say hi...

You mean Little Sahara? You wrote the above in this thread, I thought "out there" meant you were coming to Bob's Family Raceway in Clarskston MI...I've misread?
