dragbanshee
no matter how i jet it or adjust it, my plugs seem to be wet so i thought i would try hotter plugs. seems to have helped keep plugs dry and runs alot better, just not sure if its safe to leave them in, since i run the bike wot full time, You know how it is! 280 mains, stock pilots, alba needles 4th notch rich, air screw 2 out ,pro reeds, k&n mod airbox lid, t5s plugs b7es. never done a compression check on it,and i do get a little bit of fuel out my silencers. but the bike runs really strong for stock. 1997 should i stick with standard b8es plugs? sredish
a plug with a hotter heat range, or colder heat range, just means it will transfer heat differently. the way you can tell if you need a different heat range is by reading the ground strap. there's a color change that occurs on there and it should occur in the middle of the bend. your plug being wet has nothing to do with the heat range. i suggest leaving the heat range alone. RadarRacing
I use a different plug heat range when I'm jetting a bike and need to somewhat light off more unburned gas just like you did. If the bike likes those plugs and if the electrodes plating is not burned more than 1/2 the way down to the base of the plug then you are fine. I'd say your ignition/spark may be slightly off meaning it's not as hot as it once was. Check the plugs and you might get some new plug boots.
