sredish
thats because when the motor heats up, the rings heat up and expand, tightening up against the cylinder wall and helping hold compression for starting.
202banshee
I am by far a banshee expert LOL. But mine was doing the exact same thing when I bought it. Alot of the guys on here helped me a ton. Some one suggested that my idle was to high. The slide has to big of a gap to have enough velocity to pull the fuel like its suppose to. Yours isnt as bad as mine. Mine wouldnt start after 100 kicks LOL. I lowered my idle down and now by second kick its fired. Not saying that it couldnt be your rings but its something else to try. Also how does it idle after started ?? someone mentioned that idle is terrible when rings are gone. 350BANSHEE350
i say compression check and then clean the carbs real good and check your jetting.when i let my bike sit i drain the carbs but when i turn the gas on and pump the gas 3 times and pull the choke out 1 stage it start 1 kick try that oh and try shaking the shit outta your gas before you start Edited September 23, 2007 by 350BANSHEE350
moneybags
Try ajusting the air screws on the carbs. It made a big differents on my banshee. It will take a minet to take effect. It could be a easy fix. Also it is not that big of a deal to leve gas in the carbs. I do it all the time and have never flooded it. I am sure someone will disagree. :ermm:
Lethaface
not sure if i missed it but remove the filter and look into the airbox while you have somebody slowly push the throttle in.. Make sure both slides are coming up and down at the same time.. Had a issue like this once and it was the culpret..

Had a issue like this once and it was the culpret.. ok..so when it starts it idles like a johnson 50..just purring quietly..never bogs or stalls..i dont need to give it any gas to keep it running..it just sits there..yesterday i was talking to an officer and sat with it idleing for about 45 mins with no probs..i will check the compression when i can..and if thats fine i need to check the carbs and try to clean them..and what do i do to the air screw? whats that and where is it and what do it do to it?.. bigwake
one more thing..has anyone tried a fuel additive/gas treatment to clean the carbs? like one from my local auto store that runs thru the tank and cleans the carbs? Lethaface
As far as using a fuel additive, Just do it right and take them apart.. Check your pilot jets like said before, that will also make it hard starting..I highly doubt your petcock is a issue but if it makes you feel more comfortable take the gas line off and make sure gas flows freely.. Also blow threw the gas cap line and make sure there is no obstructions in the line.. Not that i think that is your starting problem but may be your lack of fuel problem..The air fuel screw is the little screw thats to the bottom left of the fuel inlet.. They are normally 1.5-2 turns out from lightly seated..
bigwake
ok thanx..and how do i know whether i have the right pilot jet?

sredish
I NEVER turn my fuel off. I don't even think about it just turn the bike off and go. The petcock has nothing to do with your issue.
