smoke

it seem bike was over heating do to water pump being out , i have head off just to check head gasket to before sure, head gasket looks fine and never was burning any antifreeze to begin with but buddy told me to check it cause that was the first idea he had when it started spitting coolant out of over flow on the resivor tank, promblem was fixed i guess with new water pump , but last time i took it on the trial ride after change i shut it off and hadn"t had any coolant hit me in the face was nice but right bank or tail pipe continued to smoke heavy for like a whole 1 minutes time never had seen that before ever, dark smoke so i took my blower tip from the compresser and blow some air up the tailpipe and here came a bunch more smoke a couple 3 times i did this, could i have scorched the rings in the 2 rides i rode it for about 3 minutes untill coolant hit in the face inother words overheated?

i have the head off now what should i be looking for as far as piston play side to side in the cyclinder , jugs still on bike of coarse,,,it moves left to right less then a 16th as far as piston slop i guess for lack of a better word rings bore and all have less then 1 hour total ride time on them, but just wondering, no signs of head gasket leaking but have 3 part gasket setup , do to the spacer plate between the two head gaskets for the stroker kit installed, any ideas guys?????

Sounds like coolant leaking into the cylinder. This should only happen at the jug i.e. head gasket, spacer gasket, crankcase gasket. Impellar can only leak into tranny and would not emit smoke from exhaust. Only thing that sounds amiss is "dark smoke"??? Water (with anitfreeze) is usually white. I hear "no spacer plate and cut domes" is the way to go!

????

I was under the impression that the stroker plate went between the bottom of the cylinders and cases.

You dont have it on top between the head and cylinders do you?

Or is that even possible?

Anyway, what does the extra smoke smell like? Like burning oil or heavy premix?

You might have a bad crank seal on the right side. Check your tranny oil.

it only smell like heavy burnt oil maybe i didn"t really notice to tell u the truth, and yes the plate goes on top of jugs,,,not both,, what do i check tranny oil for , gas water ect there was nothing in it, out of the ordinary, i did just change engine oil though right before i rode it come to think of it could i have over filled it maybe?

Im sorry, should have been more specific. Keep an eye on the level of oil in your tranny to

see if it is using any. Also are your carbs in sync with each other? Are your reeds in good

shape also? Did you check your compression?

wow so you are telling me that my spacer plate for my stroker is not for my port timing??? There is no way to put the stroker spacer plate between the head and jug. way different bolt pattern. And it sounds like a crank seal went bad.

yes the plate doe"s go between the jugs and the head i took it off there thank you omg! it is what gives u the height cleanace for long rod stroker crank lol!

with out drilling the domes hire in the head! HEHE any way what ways do i notice crank seal going out and what made it do it there brand new less 1 hour ride time on this motor rebuild! also should i be able to ever so slightly move piston side to side when it is still in it"s cyclinder?

Yes there should be a minute amount of play in there for expansion. I dont know how much as I do not have my

clymers handy.

I'd say put it back together and check your compression. Check your reeds and then sync your carbs.

You never really said what the smoke smelled like other than saying "heavy burnt oil".

Did it smell kinda like burning engine oil, like a car or lawnmower, or premix. Or did it have a really sweet smell to it.

Heavy premix, your carbs most likely need adjusting.

Burning oil, like a acar or lawnmower, most likely right crank seal letting tranny oil into the crankcase.

Sweet smell with white smoke, usually coolant getting in your combustion chamber.

Hope this helps.

ok i didn"t really get a good smell the neibor guys walked over to ask if i had it fixed yet and i was trying not to let him see this smoke still coming out of my tailpipe and the bike was shut down lol as i said yes i think i finnaly figured it out

how hard is it it change the tranny seal and where is it located? well oviously in the trans but u no, through the side cases or what? and why would it blow one ??? Also last question how do i sync the carbs cause yes i have messed with the cable length ajusters on the tops to try to get them the same amount of opening then locked them down tight, never turn a screw on them or nothing, and as for reeds i have never change them , but i have had to leave the air box lid off or the bikes won"t rev up like it had tors system on it or something, my old air box cover has hole saw sized holes drilled out of it i guess i"ll put that 1 back on see what it doe"s do the the situation, only other thing doe"n to it was i put all 2005 electronic front to back in cluding coil on the 1993 shee?? anymore ideas or tips or tricks to syncing the carbs?? thank u

The crank seal on the tranny side, as far as i know, only way to replace that is by splitting the

cases. Didnt you say it had a new one in there?

I think you answered your own question about syncing your carbs.

Are your carbs jetted correctly for any mods you have?

Post up your mods.
