phreak
my bike runs like a raped ape but it acts weird in 4th, 5th, and 6th. well... mostly 4th and 5th. haven't riden anywhere yet that i needed 6th. if i'm in either of those gears giving it 1/2 to full throttle, it'll rev up then the rpms will drop alittle. when the rpms drop, it'll start pulling hard as the revs climb back up. but... the rpms don't climb as fast as the first 3 gears. could the mains be too big? its not bogging down and losing power. mods are in my sig. plus i'm running 15/41 gearing and no airbox lid. and this is the 2nd ride after port and new top end. my jetting is: 370 mains aftermarket needle (6 notches, longer than stock) -> 4th from the blunt end stock pilot air screws 3 turns out. haven't down a plug chop yet. there really is no where close by where i can safely run it wide open Edited September 16, 2007 by phreak
locogato11283
your main is pretty big. have you done a wide open throttle plug check with that jetting? if so, what color were your plugs? whats your elevation and temperature?? Snopczynski
adjust the needle, if it gets worse than go the other way.
sredish
have you done a wide open throttle plug check with that jetting? if so, what color were your plugs? what he said and what snop said could help also. you may get a different needle, not that aftermarket longer one... that could be hurting you some causing you to need bigger mains than usual. nonetheless, for now, try raising it by lowering the clip some and see if that helps. above all, you and we need to know what the plug color is from a WOT plug run and doing it in 5th gear is fine, especially with that gearing. phreak
thanks guys for you responses. i ended up dropping the main to 360 and the bike ran great yesterday. i was unable to do a plug check as the trail we were riding is fairly tight. i was barely able to top out in 4th. but goddamn... at half throttle in 4th she pulled like a sob. i can't wait to hit some really open areas to top her out.
