They are decent for MX work I believe. CPI pipes tend to be a higher rpm pipe that work well for dune and drag work. Velocity Accelerators are akin to perpetual motion machines and can be mostly dismissed as BS. If you have properly functioning carbs, you don't need that crap. WTF is purple power soap? Is that the car wash soap made by Castrol? I have a purple peaople eater and a purple headed yogurt slinger if you would like to know how those work.
RZBansheeMan
Hey "FireHead :geek: ", how about the "Tornado" ? Will that increase gas mileage on my RZ Banshee ?................ :yelrotflmao:

However, one of the folks that works for me has one in his car as well as one of those fuel magnet deals. If someone could provide even a reasonable explanation of how they improve some performance, I would atleast stop bad-mouthing them.
FireHead
or what about the tailgate theory? The tailgate deal is a different story. I actually wrote a paper on it in skool that was backed up by 1/10 scale wind tunnel testing. As it turns out I am not sure I have an official opinion on this topic. I can say that losing the weight of the tailgate certainly is worth something, but other than that, I'll just have to go along with whatever the MythBusters episode concluded. :geek:
RZBansheeMan
That Tornado thing is a big $ 60.00 P.O.S. That stupid thing is so far up stream of where it would need to be to for any effectiveness that it's rediculous. Besides the automakers / engine designers already have a vortex design that's incorporated into all these "swirl port" heads. Gm did a really good design with their "Vortec" series engines. Yeah, I watched the Mythbusters episode on fuel mileage gimmicks too. It seemed a little odd that having the tailgate up would provide better gas mileage, but they proved it. The only thing I could see better is a tonneau cover, which I have experienced a mileage improvement with. The tumble of air behind the cab is designed in and gives you a virtual spoiler effect on the top of your cab. My real complaint about the tornado is this: What do you think happens to all that nifty swirling air when it splits up and hits the area of the intake manifold where the air stream divides into each intake runner? My gues would be you wind up with more stalled flow there than you would have even if you didn't have the stupid Tornado installed.

I can't remember for sure, but I think that silly ass thing even goes up stream of the M.A.F. meter, and if so, what do you think happens to all the neato swirling air then ?, it gets straightened out again. Not to mention, I have my doubts that all that swirling air even makes it to the plenum, I imagine that it stops swirling in the corrigated factory intake tubes if not at the throttle body. If you have a grid style MAF, that pooches the Tornado's deal right there. I have my suspicions that it completely screws any laminair flow you were trying to build via the OEM design. It just goes to show that advertising is a large portion of any aftermarket products' success. I wish I could come up with something like that.................. Hilarious
...........are you blinking at me because you would like to know how those two things work? Yes. I would like to hear (or read) an engineer's well thought out explaination of how those (2) things operate. The ones I work with just get red in the face everytime they are questioned on that subject.
