4stroker
who makes the plates and fibres for the FAST clutches? im in australia and need a clutch ASAP, and i thought the FAST clutch may just be a collection of parts that i could replicate instead of waiting 2 weeks for it to get here from america. any info greatly appreciated thanks, mark

shanYE west
I use the FZR 1000 fibers and Toomey steels. Yamaha Part # for the fibers is 4H7-16321-02-

4stroker
do i need to get the FZR steels too? my clutch is slipping pretty bad (barnett), can i just rough the steels up with some emery tape and put it back together with the FZR fibres? or should i just bite the bullet and replace the lot? thanks, mark. RagunCajun
Why not put 3 hd springs in there while you have it apart. That's what i did when i went ported. My clutch worked great although i wish the pull was lighter.
locogato11283
how old is your clutch? how old are your clutch parts? slipping clutches can result from other clutch parts being worn out. you should inspect the basket fingers, the inner hub and the pressure plate. if they are all worn, a new clutch is pointless. youre just masking the real problem. 4stroker
yeah well i havent torn it down yet to check it out, but the clutch was working fine before i installed my heavily ported RZ top end... after doing about 3 full throttle acceleration runs on the bitumen to do some plug chops with the new motor the clutch gave up the ghost... it doesnt slip in say 1st or 2nd but as soon as you try hammering it from 3rd up it revs to the moon and goes nowhere! i doubt the rest of the assembly is worn out as this bike is very low hour, and im pretty sure its got barnett plates in it which i have heard are not much chop... dajogejr
It's just like a set of chain and sprockets... Worn clutches can wear out the other parts as well...and vice versa... I've seen plenty low hour banshees with shot clutches because the owner didn't know what the f they were doing or how to ride. You gotta pull it apart anyways, so before you order something, I'd check it all out and order it all at once. I'd get HD barnett steel plates, FZR fibers and use 3HD, 3 stock springs. Pickup a new clutch cable if yours is suspect at all, and an EZ pull lever and perch.
