Toluene

Oh come on, they are not the main components in race gas. In fact, they're not even close to being a major component. I think you will find about 4% tolulene in a standard 120 octane unleaded fuel and about 1.7% xylene. These two chemicals also tend to brake down and rearrange hydrocarbon chains to their liking (which is what makes them a good solvent), so it may not be best to be mixing them into your fuel yourself, unless you have a good chemical background and some crude lab equipment at your disposal.

I agree....

I work in a Petroleum Chemical Lab which in fact does have a RON and MON octane research engine. We mostly run Naphtha, Gas, Cat Gas, Toluene, Raffinate, Reformate, etc.

We have all that at our finger tips including MTBE.

Definitly have lab equipment at my disposal.

oh yea, forgot:

1) Xylene is harsh on rubber parts. Please do not do this or you might be out some expensive carburetor parts.

2) Say hello to tolulene and goodbye to throttle response.

There's a lot more to race fuel than just high octane. Putting toluene in gas only serves to make the bike run like crap. Increased amounts only serve to make the throttle response worse, but, it won't detonate! Now, the toluene your talking about isn't the same as the additive toluene gas makers use. You can't purchase pure toluene on the open market. So be careful of attempting this.
