banshee332
Nice Mike...I've seen plenty OEMs go fast...and he might very well be fast at his track. If he can prove those times at one of the three tracks I run at, I will eat a whole flock of crow and announce it here... So far...I have offered to put some $$ on it, no reply. Brad... Silver Lake is the place then. We'll have to pick a time when the track will be open...hit the track one day, the dunes the next. To be honest, most of us go to the dunes, then sit at the drag strip at the dunes. And...there's not time slips there...LOL. It's big balls, hold it WOT, and hang on. BIG Whoops when the track gets chewed up. It's not even a track...it's a flat area 300 to 500 yards long....and people just keep on going and going at the drop of a flag. best of both worlds for you guys.... if I where to go to the dunes I think I would have to change my swinger a +6 I would be doing more looking at the sky then anything. its been a while since I ran with out a bar so that will be new to. more then likely it will be next year before I do the dune thing

Sorry...had to. I run a 14 over/14 paddle at the dunes and track and it comes up pretty easy at the dunes. Yeah, with no wheelie bar, 6 over made my 4 mil on gas a handful. It was fun to ride...but, it'll come up on you. The looser/chewed up sand tends to hook much better than the track....in my experience anyways.... dajogejr
With that short of an arm, you might unload your tires a bit, you'll have to play with bar height I'm sure. But as Roger said...there's plenty of help there. There are a lot of 10 mils at Bobs, normally... I can tell you they normally run longer swingers even with bars, 8 to 14 or so... I'm outta here, the quitting time whistle is blowing. I'm glad this conversation turned around into something positive.... No hard feelings, hope to see you at the track and/or dunes sometime soon....

Dave, what would you consider max gearing on your motor in deep sand? without the bottle...just curious... my 4 mill would just bury itself on a 14 arm and a 14 paddle extremes ....Jim .......... any video? dajogejr
Dave, what would you consider max gearing on your motor in deep sand? without the bottle...just curious...Jim Jim...no bottle... I have that in my sig on E2S just as a joke...I've never put NOS to it...yet...LOL. I'm not sure what you're asking...or which bike. My 4 mil on gas last year, or 10 mil on alky this year.... And max gearing as far as what? How much does it pull, or how much do I feel it will pull (gearing combos are what I think you're asking...right?) I don't know the distance we play race at the dunes, but if I had to guess...it's probably around 400 feet or so. Maybe others can chime in to confirm or add to... Sand tracks...all three I've run at are 300ft.... So...that being said...how can I help you?

I run 17/39 on 14 paddle extremes and its not near enough tire...just burns them off on a 12 over arm at LS
dajogejr
Ahh...I see you changed it a bit. My 4 mil was setup up more as a duner than a drag bike. I wasn't smart enough to put a lock up OR Override in it...and I ran a bone stock, uncut and unlightened chassis...gas...inframe pipes. With a 6 over swinger, 10 paddle normal haulers, 72ish rollout, I used stock gearing. I have one video of it....the far bike is me, the close bike is JT on a 4 mil, override, alky.....right before it went boom... Launching in second...he gave me the leave due to his tranny and alky. It ran hard for what it was...and what it didn't have... This was a wet sandy day, colder than shit (due to our gear...).....keep in mind Jim I'm 250lbs, so...I've got a few lbs to get to the tires...LOL... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=61...h&plindex=0 I've been to the dunes twice with my 10 mil build. Neither ended well..once I got my issues sorted, it's run good at the track all year. My good friend had it out at the dunes Labor Day weekend...I couldn't go. Several people at the drag strip a few weeks ago said it ran pretty well...

I just found it odd that my bike will just blow off 14 paddle extremes like they were drag slicks...really suprised me and Im looking for other options on tires...really hate to shorten the bike up..I like the front end on the ground. Just wondered really if your motor would pull as much gear as Brads bike I guess..Not really a sand bike, but he's got enough motor to take care of just about anything that comes along...within reason ofcourse Edited September 20, 2007 by PassionRE

I run 17/39 on 14 paddle extremes and its not near enough tire...just burns them off on a 12 over arm at LS Gotcha...confused which bike you were talking about. I started by running 16/39 launching in first, now I'm at 16/44 launching in 2nd. I play with air pressure from 3 to 8 pounds.... As said, I'm 250lbs...no bar. This last time at the track, I ran 15 Extremes, ran my best time ever, best and consistent 60 foot...but I also changed the ignition and leaned the jetting. I'm guilty of trying too much at once... But my buddy that rode it at the dunes (and it was chopped up sand to say the least) said it hooked very, very well with 3PSI in the tires and he is about 200lbs. Don't know if this helps at all... Brad's said he hasn't rode his bike in sand yet, just dirt tracks...and he's running gas but thinking of going to methanol. Every video and post of Brad's...however, is him trying to figure out how to get traction. I'm not trying to start anything...but how do you know how much gear Brad's bike will pull without it being able to hook up properly?? My bike seems to get the best traction at the track on a freshly groomed strip. As the track gets a little chewed up...it starts spinning the tires pretty good...and my 60 foot times show it big time. Now the dunes...for some reason, is the opposite. It seems to me the more it chews up...the better it hooks. I'm not sure how much, if any...clay is at Bob's track. Then again...I have no lights or timers to verify that by...of course. It's according to my "butt dyno"...lol. Just goes to show you...what works one place doesn't necessarily mean it will somewhere else...
