HELP! Reving High, Stalling out, Back Firing

I need some help. Went out riding the other day decided to fill up with a regular unleaded gas pre-mix. Rather than the premium gas pre-mix i usually use. Got a few miles down the road and my thumb throttle felt stiff. when i came to a stop it stalled out. pulled over to see if anything obvious was hanging the throttle cable up, didn't find anything. then shee started reving high at a idle. Also when letting off the throttle in high gears it would backfire. Also when slowing down from 5th or 6th when i pulled the clutch in it would stall. I Took my carbs off and checked the reeds. they seem to be fine. the only thing i noticed was on my slides(attached to the bottom of the tors system) there is some black carbon covered all arouond. i dont know a whole lot about tuning these things. but could my problem simply be those slides sticking?? maybe my stator?? just looking for some advice or any other possible fixes. thanks flyRTby

so i went up to magic racing today. he told me the only way its backfiring is, because my rings are shot or cracked a piston. i took my head off and i noticed some small hair line cracks in the cylinder walls. also notice some different colored detonation on the top of one of the cylinders. by different colored i mean one was all black. the other, was all black but in the center it was like a rusty metal color. is this normal wear and tear, i donno what to look for.

Hair line cracks in a mostly stock bike, I want to see this!! Your problems would mostly related to the TORS system and you lilely have a frayed throttle cable or something is holding a slide up. Post some pics of this or PM me pics of these cracks. linear scratches in the bore are not cracks. It is entirely possible but backfiring can be caused simply by lean jetting and carb balance problems will sure force one cylinder to run lean.

no cracks. my walls are smooth as a babys ass. i just notice some marks tha tlooked like cracks. anyway. i cleaned everything her all back together and shee stalled out right away. its gotta by my rings. will compression test this weekend. duce

Is there some reason you are pointing right at the rings? Sounds more jetting related from here.

really??? see my TORS already acted up on me. i got rid of my parking brake and cut the wires coming from the tors switch on my clutch lev. from what i experienced when my TORS was acting up it wouldnt rev above a idle.. my shee will rev to high heaven but as soon as i let off the throttle shee dies. if i keep it rev'ed and get it moving it 1st gear it will ride normal. but once i shut er' down im back to where i started. thanks for the advice everyone keep it coming. ill keep you posted on what i find out

i picked up a compression tester from harbor freight.. which is a janky ass tool place. i have a feeling im getting a bad reading for two reasons. 1) the tester dosent go as deep as the plugs sit. 2) i know for a fact its a garbage tester even though its new. 3) im only getting about 60-70 psi exact same in both pistons. wouldnt shee not even start with that low of compression. my problem still being it wont fire up unless i give it gas and will only run with im on the gas. as soon as i let off it stalls. someone said my carbs are out of sink how do get them back N'SYNC hehe. thanks again duce

I dont understand this. One why someone would tell you back firing is a piston/ ring issue. I belive its more carb/jet issue.

But anyways. I would get a new cable if it seems something is holding it back, there really is only one good reason for that

and cables do need to be replaced i do mine every year. But im sticking with the other's sounds like a air leak, to make it rev. then

Want to shut down when you let go of the gas. Aslo check the carbs. Take off the air filter, and use one hand to open the throttle up slowly,

and make sure the slides are moving at the same time and the same distance. I would beat money your problem lies here not piston and rings.

Listen, you need to listen to what I posted way above. TORS!!!!!! One of your big problems is your are confusing your TORS system with your parking brake rev limiter. Sounds like you already cut that off but I will put my left on the fact that your TORS are doing their JOB! Everyone seems to think that when they do this, it is a TORS problem, errrh. Actually, your TORS are doing the job they are supposed to and as soon as it sensed closed throttle at the handle bar and one of the carbs is still open, it will cut the ignition and this is why you have no idle. I will bet money that if you just touch the throttle, it revs to the moon? Put some throttle cables on and be done. Keep in mind there are cables in the TORS boxes as well.

Sorry to rant but I hate to point out the problem only to be ignored. You can also rebuild your engine and add a stroker crank to help find it but that will not fix your throttle problem.
