banshee assault Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Posted August 30, 2007 Does anyone know where to find just the rubber boots on the stock A-arms? (The rubber boot that goes over the ball joint.) I can't locate a part # for just the rubber boots. I contacted my local dealer and they said I have to buy the entire A-Arms to get the boots! :: Also, what is the best way to seperate the A-Arm from the spindle? letsgetthisdone Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Posted August 30, 2007 you use a balljoint fork to get the a-arms off of the spindles... and your dealer isn't lieing to you. i just looked at a parts list breakdown on a dealer website, it shows pix of the assemblies and all of the parts are numberedand what not, the boots come with the a-arms. if the boots are messed up are the joints are worn out you can put get aftermarket +2+1 arms and some shocks to go with them for under $1,000. and it'll ride a lot better than stock.. nunyabinness Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Posted August 30, 2007 you can get just the rubber boots. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...653378&rd=1 as for getting the spindles off of the a-arms (without damaging anything) take the brakes apart so that you have a bare spindle. then take the castle nuts off of the ball joints. then take a hammer (don't use a rubber mallet it won't work) and hit the spindle right next to the ball-joint you are trying to remove. a few good whacks and the ball-joint will just pop right out. I "made" a real nice ball joint separator for the banshee spindles that was easy out of some older parts I had laying around. I used a "drag" style lug nut, open all the way through, and a fine thread (just what the lug nut happened to be) 1/2" bolt. Essentially, you take one castle nut off and thread the bolt and lug nut apart until it provides pretty good pressure, then with one, two at most usually, medium hits with a ball peen hammer it will pop right loose. Plus, you'll never damage a boot this way. As far as balljoint separators or pickleforks or whatever, I have a whole mess of them, but have yet to find one that will work, so not sure about that.
