TeamRealtreeHD
Ok boys, help me out. I need one. I was looking on ebay and they have a few but not sure if they are the right type. What should I get here. Most have a title of "automotive engine compression checker/guage". Is this it? Thanks Edited August 29, 2007 by TeamRealtreeHD

TeamRealtreeHD
Thank you faster. One more thing... when I get it and check the compression, with my mods about how much should it have to be considered good? It seems good but I would like ti check it every now and then. And what would be bad?

It is far better than what you can buy from most auto parts stores (except NAPA) and is less expensive than Snap-on.
Bansh-eman
i got the set from sears, the only problem with it is the threaded part does not have a head to grab it with and tighten it down. you have to use chanel locks and they fuk the thing up

Luckily it has a nice brass piece with a head to use as an adapter. Anyone know where I can get a reliable gauge or else I will just get a craftsman one and use my brass adapter. Bansh-eman
i emailed craftsman to see if they would warranty the parts and maybe remak them like they should have been made in the first place but they gave me a number to call and talk to someone about it, i cant ever get ahold of anyone thought... dajogejr
You get what you pay for, as said... My buddy tested his 9 year old sled motor, triple, with a cheapo... readings for all three cylinders were all over the place, and I'm talking 20 to 30PSI difference. Cheapo gauge from the auto parts store. Borrowed my buddies Strap (Snap) On gauge (cause let's face it...at their prices, you're getting fucked...they do make quality pieces, though) Each cylinder was within 5PSI of each other, motor has 5K miles on it. Get a good gauge...
