best carb setup for my situation..

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Im running 35pwks carbs with CPI Sb inframes and I am constantly burning holes in my outerwares and cleaning my filters.. its getting sickening..

I've cut the airbox mounting tabs off to get the clearance for these large pod filters, but still have a bitch of a time trying to keep them from burning/rubbing holes..

I purchased a set of Uni pods off a fellow on planet sand, unfortunitly they must be for 39mm carbs cause the opening is a way too sloppy.. anyways even if they did fit they second layer of the Uni filter would quickly go up in flames as it rubs the stinger tubes of the silencers.

Just wondering what Pods people are using for their 35pwks... thanks for any responces

Part #'s and where you got what your using would also be a huge help..

Thanks again

Brad

if you go to cascade-innovations.net they sell some slip on covers for stingers that will prevent future problems with outerwears. or, on my first 4mm, I used a huge zip tie to hold the pods close together, which gave clearance along the stingers. Either way worked great for me, and no more holes in the outerwears.

Or getcha some header wrap which is what I did.

Stopped the problem with burnin holes in the TOPS of the air filters.

Now getting the bottoms of the filters to stop rubbin on the frame and upper, rear shock mount

is another story.

I'm running the K&N Angled pods. I have CPi BB and have not burned my outerwears yet. I do put a few rubber bands around the outerwears to keep them away from the pipes frame etc. I have PWK33's but that should not matter. On some bikes or with some pipes (same kind or not) burning the outerwears will be more of a problem. I have some header wrap but decided it not to use it. Waste of $25 or whatever.

Thanks for the ideas..

Why did you not try the silencer wrap you bought Justin?

Now if i can et them from rubbing holes.. I've electical tapped alot of bad rub spots to give it a softer contact surface.. perhaps i'll just go like hell and tape it all up..

Wheres the best place to get prefilters?

I see they're 18$ through cascade... anyone finding them cheaper than that?

Thanks guys\

These spark plug boot protectors will keep your pipes from burning the outerwares and can be bought at advanced auto parts http://designengineering.com/products.asp?m=sp&pid=22 .The cheapest place I have found for outerwears is http://www.tsracing.com/store/showprod.cfm...ectGroup_ID=121

Also have great prices on filters

Because my outerwears did not touch the pipes like I thought they would. It either has to do with the new frame or swithcing to Big Bore CPI's or both. The angled pods is key!

Man, I like those very much. I always have to run a piece of safety wire around my 2:1 filter so the outerware won't burn on the left (I think it is the left) stinger. Those protectors will solve that problem. And silver or black will be just right.

:thanks:
