jetting help

my buddy has a ported shee with +4 timing, pods, shearer inframes, shaved head, i think around 150psi each cylinder, runs 1/2 race 1/2 93 oct. 15 tooth front sprocket. doesnt feel like its pulling that great up stairs. started with 340's now at 380's getting better but not sure if 400 is to big,this is also with stock carbs or if i should go smaller than 340's just dont want to go to lean or should i keep going up thanks in advance

I would normally tell you something is wrong...that's HUGE jetting.

However, if it has good compression, it passes a leak down test, squish is where it should be....plug chop is next.

 

Question is this...

 

He's got porting, Shearer pipes, and stock carbs?

 

That's like wiping your ass before you shit....it don't make sense....

that sounds prettty fatt if youask me-understand all bikes are differnt etc. but my theory is no matter what size mains you run, stock carbs only flow so much air.....I have pretty heavy drag porting, +7 timing shaved head k&n pods at sea level 70 degrees, and I have 330 mains, and am gonna go leaner.....remember lean is mean-hopefully I will be able to afford bigger carbs this winter.

the stock carbs should give low and mid but kill it on top ... 400 sure if thats what the motor wants. read ur plugs @ the basering and not the porcelin
