banshee vs. Outlaw 525

You either had a freak of nature Predaturd, or you haven't ridden or raced a 450.

A piped and intake setup Predator would lose by a MILE to any brand new 450, bone stock...period.

They are great trail bikes....they are very comfy and the ergos aren't too bad for a trail bike.

They aren't in the same breath as a piped banshee or stock 450 racing wise...

A "turd could probably take a piped shee in tight trails...if that's the racing you mean, than I apologize and you're right.

Not to sure about my pred then, but I have ridden 450's as well and I was just stating my opinion on what I have dealt with. No big deal though, and yes the pred was very easy going when ripping through the woods. Maybe mine was a freak then but who's to say I guess, maybe it was just the terrain and I had better hook-up, dont know. I did however always like the stance of my pred.

They are a nice bike...

The same guy that had the pred on juice just got a 525 KTM motor for his second predator frame.

Now...that thing should be a rocket once he gets it figured out!!!

I don't have any pictures of his...but you'd be amazed with some of the shit he had on it. Flex bars and everything...it was truly a nice bike...

i agree , i have been at a lot of tracks and riding parks and every prediturd i saw was slow and the one i raced i felt like getting off and running to make it fair . not sure what the deal is they may be a dependable trail quad but they are not known for all out speed

As for the Outlaw, nice bike as well with the 525 in it but sounds like you have some Valve issues by the way you described how it just stalls out of no where etc. Does your bike seem to idle fine then just puff off out of no where and die? If so get it looked at, something isnt right. Also watch the rear wheels, that became an issue with the IRS suspension. When you would jump the arms would dig into the rims on a lot of the outlaws and cause the rim to crack or just completely break. I dont believe it was the arms itself with the issues I believe it was just the rims and spindles.

Also could check out predatorowners.com I believe they still have an outlaw section, there were some badass ones over there as well.

No it wont quit out of nowhere at idle. But you can't let this bike lug 1st AT ALL. If your not on the gas, I don't care if your on flat asphalt it will stall as soon as it gets to idle. It does make some valve noise, just clicking, I don't have another one to compare it to. This bike is brand new, like 1 hour on it. If I knew the lash spec I would pull off the valve covers and check it. I was told you need a special tool to adjust the valves by the dealer. Some of the issues I think are just jetting. The bike was way lean from the factory. I bought the JT jet kit came with needles and jets. I went from a 148 to a 175 already I only have one jet bigger 180. I'm hoping I can tune some of this out with the pilot screw (located on the bottom of the carb pain in the ass). The jet kit said 1 1/8 out but I'm thinking with the airbox mods I need to go to 2 to 2 1/2. No pilot in the jet kit of course. I do have precision drill bits that I could do the pilot with if necessary.

Even with the 175 main in it I had to cover up the airbox holes I made to get it to quit backfiring on decel. I'm going to put the wideband on it this weekend and see whats going on.

have you hit up that pred site yet? They have a whole section dedicated to the outlaws plus a few others like pic/vids.

Also do you have the different color needles I keep reading about? Looks like a lot of people are actually a little lower than you on the main but the needle is sitting in the 5th clip.

I've owed a predator.. The problem with the predator wasn't the powerplant. It was the weight! them things were so damn heavy.. and on top of that the gear ratio's were WAY to far apart. If they could get that machine down to around 380 or so it would be a whole lot faster. I really liked my Pred though.. it wasn't a drag racer by anymeans.. but it sure did beat the hell out of my banshee in the trail department.

Yeah, the jet kit comes with two different needles a blue one and a red one. The blue is richer, for cooler temp and lower alt (we all know the deal here) and red for alt, obviously I put the blue needle in, on the third clip cause thats what the instructions said. Now this kit is really geared toward jetting a stock bike, ie no modifications at all. It calls for a 165 main and blue needle 3rd clip for stock bike with lid on airbox. Since I modified the stock exhaust and lid I went with the 175 main and normal needle. If I raise the needle a couple clips I will prob fix all drivability problems.

I'm going to go ahead and make a statement here to revive this thread.

A bone stock Outlaw 525 will destory any banshee, with any mods, in any race, from trails to drag to dunes......... Period.

Not if I put my nitrous/methanol blaster motored banshee on your dyno to get the correct a/f...you will get half tracked....

I call BS. I have heard through the grapevine that that bike has an Tomos moped engine on it. The one with the two speed transmission. Thats like a chevy two speed powerglide.

Not a fair race, has to be an actual banshee engine. And no boost bottles.
