reed/compression ?

Recommended Posts

Im cleaning out my carbs and intake because last time I was out I was in a ton of mud and water and on my way out of the woods my bike began to run really raspy like it was too rich or something so I fugured the filter was clogged so I pulled it off and got the same thing. Im cleaning out my carb because Im sure there is dirt in there.

Anywyas to the point, I want to check to see if maybe its a cracked reed, If I do a compression check, will I see a drop in psi from a crack? If not, i guess Ill just pull the cages, but I wanted to avoid getting new gaskets.

It won't affect comp. Comp sits between the head & rings.

Reeds wouldn't effect it, I have some stockers if you need em!

I just figured some of the charge might get lost through the crack before it enters for the compression stroke when the piston is on its way down pushing some back out. I thought the point of reeds was to prevent that preasure from escaping at that point kind of like a check valve. Crack=leak? Whatever, they werent cracked anyways.
