gforce axle install any tips?

appreciate the tips....so i take it sometimes these axles come apart easily and sometimes they dont?...isnt that brake rotor a threaded assembly or is it pressed?....and i'm not sure what you mean about getting the locknut to work properly?..could you explain a little more please...thx

Its pretty straight forward.

You want to loosen the locknuts on the stock axle before you do anything else.

There are many ways to do this. Sometimes it will be a painful task. Lol

Once you have that did, remove tires & hubs.

Remove the locknuts. Loosen chain and remove sproket hub, it should slide off.

Pull axle out through right side of carrier. Slide brake disc hub off axle.

Install is reverse.

I would recommend cleaning out your carrier before you install the new axle. And

install new bearings and seals while you have it apart.

Pack it with grease and dont forget to re-install the spacer

between the bearings.

Once you are back up and running, periodically check the new locknut and tighten

as necessary.

its 3 pieces a big nut, a treaded splined piece, and a snap ring thingy deal??? anyway u put the big nut first then the splined part and then the clip. then u tighten it so that the splined part goes toward the tire and the big nut goes toward the carrier. if that makes any since it should have instructions.

Use a gigantic adjustable wrench for the locknut. Borrow one if you have to. I bought their 'axle nut wrench' and it was a stamped P.O.S. Use blue threadlock all over the threads and tighten the bejeezus out of it. Use blue (or red if you dare) threadlock on the nut's pinch bolt. I did this and mine has stayed tight for over a year.

i sold samdust the g force he has......

 

never used loctite on it one time....and it never came loose

i dont think id use any thread locker on it if it were me..

I agree. That nut doesn't need to be that tight either. It's not like the locknut on a stocker.

its still just as tight as when i first put it on and bansheedan had it before me. he said it never loosened. so i guess im just lucky.

 

i must be one real lucky guy then....cause i raced falt track with that axle.....

 

the axle has prolly 500 laps or more on it and it never came loose,EVER!!!

You obviously had better luck than I did. When I first installed it, I tightened it as hard as their crappy wrench would allow. It backed off after 3 rides (woods, dirt dragging). One of my riding buddys' GForce axles did the same exact thing. That's why I'm saying that you can't go wrong using threadlock. If you have difficulty in removing the nut later, a little heat from a torch will make the threadlock let go. Simple, and just a little added insurance.
