02buster
alignment issue!!! before i swapped on the asr a arms the bike rode straight and true. air pressure in the tires are all the same. none of the breaks are dragging. I installed +2 +1 arms and i can't for the life of me get this f-en thing to ride in a straight line. as soon is a start out rolling the bars pull to the right and it pulls to the right. I bring it back to the garage check the tie rods. try different things and nothing changes it. i have it toed in about 1/8" to 1/4" and have the negative camber about 1/4" I'm going to try to go to 0 toe and camber and see if that helps anything. does anyone have any suggestions? Sledge hammer? Edited August 12, 2007 by 02buster

Sledge hammer? Did you make sure both wheels were pointing straight forward before you adjusted toe in? Put the front of your bike on a stand so the front tires are barely off the ground. Then run two tie down straps from the handlebars to the rear grab bar to keep your handlebars pointing straight forward. Next screw both tie rods all the way in, then measure from the front inside of your wheel about half way up, measure from there to the frame where your bottom bumper mount is. Record that measurement, then measure the other side the same way, adjust what ever tie rod needs to be adjusted to make these measurements exactly the same. From there measure your toe-in to 1/4 of an inch making sure you turn each tie rod exactly the same amount. If you have done all that I don't know what to tell you. Get you a cheap angle finder from the hardware store(I think they are 10 or 15 bucks) and measure your camber & caster correctly. Lonestar racing has a good guide to setting up a front end on their website, check it out. Hope that helps!
02buster
Thanks for the reply. I'll try out the ratchet strap idea. i was told not to make adjustments with the bike up in the air and that it needs to be at ride hight when makeing the adjustments. i'll look at the site. hopefully i can get this figured out soon. For your camber & caster adjustments it needs to be at ride height with you or a buddy sitting on the bike. For toe in I always put the bike on a stand so the front tires just clear the ground. Then I mark a center knobby on each tire with tape or chalk, measure between those two points at the front of the bike then record the measurement, next spin the tires 180 degrees and make a measurement at the back of the bike the same distance from the ground as you made your first measurement and record it. Find your toe-in that way then check it at ride height to make sure nothing has changed.
02buster
I think one of my issues is. knowing if the tires are perfectly straigt. i'm a 1/4 inch toe in . I have negative camber about 1/4 of an inch on each side. i'll hold a level on the tire and have about 1/4 inch in at the top from the leve. if i were to adjust the top out to where the tires are perfectly plum hardy any of the threads would be in the a-arm. both sides do match. I'm not sure they are pointing straight though. I'll have to mess with it more this week.
