alcoholbanshee
Were using a fuel pump or gravity?
snowmanzz13
gravity, it was gettin fuel, as it was running, an when it shut off there was a little fuel in the carbs, but it wont gain or drop an rpms no matter how open the carbs are, full throttle and it just sits.... alcoholbanshee
gravity, it was gettin fuel, as it was running, an when it shut off there was a little fuel in the carbs, but it wont gain or drop an rpms no matter how open the carbs are, full throttle and it just sits.... I figured that....Those two ports on the bottom of the crankcase with hoses on them. They need to be blocked off. They are vacuum ports to run the fuel pump. alcoholbanshee
OK....then do you have an exhaust on it??????? It's hard to tell. It will not rev without an exhaust!!!!
snowmanzz13
we put an exhaust off of a diffrent motor on it and the same thing.....
dynodon
Maybe you need to put it in cold weather !!!! LOL ( It is a snow MO ) J/K !!! Snow, Its very hard to say, have you had the carbs apart to be sure they are clean. Like the floats arent stuck ???
snowmanzz13
uhm dyno, these actually came off of a running banshee, that had no problems while running... we got two sets, one that had the air screw drilled out because it couldn't get tuned right but were removed due to a airleak on that banshee, but we have diffrent bodies, extrmely clean an everything seems to be workin fine except the motor won't gain any rpms....... IROOST1
ITS THE CDI, THAT ENGINES OFF A SLED RIGHT. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, IT WOULD JUST IDLE. TEST THE CDI AND YOULL FIND OUT.
snowmanzz13
how would i go about testing it? the only other thing we can think of, is that maybe they had a sort of kill switch type deal like if you fell of the sled it would limit the amount of spark not allowing it to rev, but testing the cdi sounds like an easy enough thing, especially if i knew how, thanks for your help
IROOST1
if you have a repair manual for it, they should say the resistances. the you need an ohm meter. whats happening is your getting spark, but the cdi is not letting it advance. thats why it just idles. the 440's are known for this. IROOST1
most snowmobiles dont have tether switches unless they are added on but it wont be that since it starts. check on ebay, there are a bunch of artic cat 440 cdi's on this week.
