ricky stator issuses

Recommended Posts

Ok we just put the new stator on the shee and its breaking up at the lower rpms.....now with the old stator it rips threw the hole rpm. The only thing changed it the ricky stator 200 watt. It dont make any sence why its doing it. Both are set a +4 degrees. We take out the ricky stator and it runs fine with the old stator.

I know the tors are gone but a couple wires that are connected and a couple that are not connected. Would this be an issue. Also it has after market lights and he has wired them up off of a two wire so they run on both high and low beam. could this be a reason????

If you guys can help let me know thanks redneck

Did you check the pickup coil?

No we havent checked it yet because it runs right with the old stator in it......I just went out and unplugged the lights and that is not the problem.

The reason for the new stator is because we dont have lights with the old one. bought the ricky stator to have lights thats it.

I bought the ricky stator when my oem stator went bad. My shee started within 2 kicks. Then I put the ricky stator in and one time it took 4 kicks and the next time 20 kicks. The next day I rode it I only got it started 2 times, and it ran like crap. It seemed like it had good low end and bad top end, suddenly the opposite would happen. I put my buddies oem stator in and all problems were gone. I bought an oem stator on ebay and the thing runs awsome. My engine builder told me he has had nothing but bad luck with ricky stator. I also did a search for ricky stator and found alot of problems with them.

Thats what we are doin now its not worth all the problems. Like you said one minute good low end power and then next minute good high end power. I guess we will get a stock stator thanks for all the help.

Fuck those Ricky Stators. I had one and it was a POS, nothing but trouble from day one. I took it off and put a stocker back on and never looked back. I hear they import all thier stators. Junk. Ya hear this Mr. R Stator !!??

I have a friend that had this problem. it wasnt the stator it was the stator plate. i cant speak word for word but it was something about Stator w/adjustable timing plate. the rivets that hold it together. the holes are to big and and the rivets are smaller so once the rivets are in it throws the timing off. he took the oem plate and used the new stater and it worked.

If it does it with the RS stator on it and does not do it with a stock stator then call RS and have them warranty it.

Yep...you got a 1 year warranty.

I ran a std watt on mine all last year, ran fine. First time out with it this year on a new build motor, it took a dump.

I found my receipt and sent it back to them, one week turn around time back to me from the day they received it....no questions asked.

That being said...I keep my stock 96 CDI and a stock 96 Stator in my parts box on trips "Just in case..."
