tmac20031
Nothing is wrong with your bike, 450's are faster bolt on for bolt on. Go beyond that, and the shee starts the shine. stop all this compression nonsense and get a port job. You would shit your pants if you knew how much harder a ported shee pulls. get a port job(with supporting mods) lightened flywheel I was in your situation. I had t'6 pipes, noss head w/ 21cc domes, vf3 reeds and a few small other goodies. I was right behind the 450's like you are. I got a port job by flotek, sold my t6 pipes(to a fellow hq'er), got some t5's, adjustable timing plate, 20cc domes etc. While i was at it, i put a new top end in. You talk about haul some ass now! I havent raced any other bikes yet but i can care less if i am faster. I wanted a fun playbike and that's what i have. Thanks man, its good to hear straight from the horses mouth. I will probably end up doing just that. I still do think it might be time for a rebuild but t5s seem more of a smarter move every day. thanks for all the replies everybody. If you said it doesnt kick like it used to then id do a compression test, or maybe iots just you wanting more - never said it was compression just a good base to start around, shit happens. I agree with the port job, they wont touch you... Eric
.
for god sakes man get rid of that air box lid....its killing you. Basically all the mods you did dont mean anything for the most part because your engine cant pull enough air. If you ride sand, get a pro flow setup with a K&N if you run sand and a foam filter setup if you run in anything else (unless you never ride in any muddy or wet situations at all) Make sure you jet up around 3 jet sizes when you pull that lid Put it this way. I was one jet lean in the mountains so I tried putting my airbox lid on and I could barely get it to rev and it was breaking up and just didnt like it whatsoever. Theres a lot of power there waiting for you....its all just stuffed up and you need to let it breathe. p.s. buy a compression tester and check your compression too.....every 2 stroke owner should have one. It's real easy if you dont mind not having ya bike for about 3 weeks. You need to figure out what you want, a playbike or a drag bike etc. Then see what kind of fuel you want to use and go from there. I wanted to have a playbike that was strong all around and ran on 93 octane. I didnt have to do much else but i did to make the port job shine. I talked it over with the guy who ported my stuff then we settled on something. Couldnt of been more happy. Personaly i wouldnt worry about being the fastest around. Just have fun with your bike. Keep it running good and all. I always think to myself, my bike is paid off and still cost less than 1/2 the price the 450's paid!
