RZBansheeMan
I don't know if any one read or not, but what is going to be life expectancy on the O2's being in a 2 stroke exhaust environment ?
alcoholbanshee
snop... I didn't roost anyones truck or ride in OR so if you want to place blame then look somewhere else sorry man... If you want to make an example of me then whatever.... I'll take my ideas somewhere else. here is an idea.... if you don't like what I say then don't read it! Please take your ideas somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!! You are not wanted here!!!!!!!! You are certainly the biggest assclown the HQ has seen in a while. You have some interesting ideas.....although THEY HAVE NOT WORKED YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And until they do....who cares. When you run better than 3.60's in 300' then I'll be impressed!!!!!! Big Dave Albin did that 3 years ago on a 350 turbo with stock carbs, but you could'nt even figure that out, loser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still gotta see you run this on the street. I am probably the only person on this forum that has any seat time on a turbo Banshee, and I can tell you no way in hell would do it on the street!!! TurboBanshee420
almost the same as a 4 stroker... just think of all the oil burning shit piles on the road. I don't see my o2 crapping out for a long time. They say it will slowly stop being accurate. just like any other engine would kill it. By then you should have the tune spot on though. and I'm talking about a time period of probably 500-800 hrs of ride time. Nothing to worry about really. the o2 itself is only about $60 so it's worth the sacrifice after all that is done

Thanx for your opinion.... but that's all it is.... opinion. I don't care. you can see video's of it running on my channel. l8r hey where is this dave albin guy....??? west coast or east...? does he have a website? is he still doing turbo banshee's? I saw a video on GTperf.com of a sweet turbo banshee making an 1/8 run. It sounded pretty cool. Was that anyone on here? Does anyone have anything worth saying besides rzbansheeman or wallace84? your guys's combined anger is giving me great strength.... I can feel it flowing through me! hahaha keep it coming. I'm lovin' this rise out of you all. Edited July 10, 2007 by TurboBanshee420
yfzdunejumper
The turbo banshee on gtperf.com is Garrett's from GT Performance. He is not on here. Its a true 350cc banshee making 200hp. At least I assume thats the one you are talking about I haven't watched the video. Im am sure he would be willing to help you anyway he can. 816-450-8580
BasicBajaX
Ya this thread sure took a turn for the worst but good you deleated some of your bs.... So what have you really changed from 3 years ago when it was not done right. I know the learning cuve and expensive adds up if you only would have done it right the first time....I am not so convinced the megasquirt is the best option but if you can learn it all, and keep up with it, it can work. It sure doesnt cost that much other than time learning it. I am going to try and get a motec working with a little bit of help. What is the main difference with the new microsquirt? RZBansheeMan
Hey there Turbo, any more progress yet ? Mike
TurboBanshee420
couple snapshots I got off quick before the family got home.... Those hardlines were a bitch and a half... I had a few minutes to play with it saturday. But I had a few peramiters set too high and fried the ignition driver on the board of my mega. Good thing I built it as a kit and know the ins and outs. Few minutes with a meter and I found the problem. Got a few more drivers on the way (VB921) and I'll be up and running again by weds. for some more tuning. These things happen when your doing something for the first time... Anyone who has built a hotrod knows what I'm talking about. Well.... back to work. More happening wedsday, I'll trying to find someone to take a video of more sweet banshee sounds for you all.
TurboBanshee420
What is the main difference with the new microsquirt? It's the size of a credit card and water proof! That would have saved me a bunch of time with that box I had to make. plus the room it takes up. It just wasn't available in time for me to use it... which sux. But I heard it's now in full production. I may move over to it once I learn some more with the v.3 ms2.

I know how much work goes into custom one-off creations like these. Thanks for sharing the progress here. I don't want you to take this the wrong way, as I don't have any experience with 2-stroke efi tuning. But I really don't think the O2 sensor is going to last. Why else would 2-stroke snowmobile efi systems use EGT probes instead? Surely an O2 sensor must be more accurate then a temperature sensor for fuel metering. And I'm sure it'll last long enough to get a baseline tune, but I'm not sure it'll last as long as 500+ hours. If you have something that says it will last, it'd be cool to see it! TurboBanshee420
None taken... I've been assured by much more experienced people from the megasquirt forum that it will last quite a while.... the catch being that it's not supposed to be mounted like most people would tell you. On an average 4 cycle engine you want it mounted quite close to the exhaust outlet. In my case it would be a very bad thing, with all the unburned fuel and oil inside the expansion chamber. So the corrected way of getting around this is to put it in the exhaust well after that threshold. Like more toward the tailpipe. In my case I mounted it right before the fart can, behind the turbo. So it will only ever see mostly burned fuel. see you can get bum readings if there is raw fuel in the stream. Because it will tell the comp that it's way lean from seeing all the oxygen. when really it's so rich that it's causeing misfires or a foul'd plug. I also have an output for EGT feedback to the mega. Just don't have one yet. So in the case I just discribed the mega has a way to know if it's just lean or actually foul'd out. This is only the beginning of this project. I have a thousand refinements to make. As time goes by I spend most of it thinking about how to make it better. Same goes for when things happen, like burning the ignition driver out. It was just a dumb mistake I overlooked. Their is a formula for finding out what the dwell is supposed to be for the coil I'm using but... I'm also doing lots of other things so I just did what was said in the megamanuel and started with 3.2 millseconds when It should've been more like 2.4 for my perticular accel high energy coil. Your supposed to do that and timing first before you tune at all. But the catch being, how are you supposed to know if it's misfireing from the fuel table being way off or misfireing from not enough spark energy. The trick is to do a bit of both until you can get in close enough to focus in on one thing at a time. Of course if I still had a CDI I wouldn't have to do all this but... I wanted to use full control. (spark & fuel) Oh well... Live and learn my friend
TurboBanshee420
So I put some seat time on the banhee finally these past 2 days. tries to do some tuning, but I found a problem with the input signal from my MAF... Seems to have way too much interferance from my spark plugs being too close to the wires. So... I'm going to need to do some more refinements. But regardless of that... I made a 3psi pull up behind my house at 1/4 throttle. Came on right as the dyno port hit. I'm super excited on what a full throttle pass would be like. Just at 3 psi it felt like a WOT pass without all the goodies on there. I have it all torn down again to make the proper changes to the harness. I should have it all fixed in about 2 weeks I hope. Summer is going by very fast these dayz. I hope to have a fully finished bike by mid-fall....well see what other curve balls I get dished
BasicBajaX
I think I was getting some noise problems with my megasquirt the last time I used it. Might try a smaller spark plug gap and see what it does.
RNBRAD
One thing I want to know is how in the world are you gonna push all that exhaust through that small stinger? That is if you plan on developing any kind of serious HP.
