its normal... no air, no cool... the gauge is the 1st thing i put on my shee, its A must If you ride slow or do alot of ...most people don't realize how hot they get w/o air flow ..then again most people ride at A good speed & don't have to worry about it, but i like to see it i've seen 230* & no boiling over so w/ A gauge you know! simple ,cheep, ins IMO

Ha, never had a gauge on any of my bikes, i mean i guess its cool to have, but like i said if you can feel the side of the cylinder without burning yourself like an exhaust pipe, your running fine, about your jetting, did you notice a power drop?? Your plugs sound to be fine, post a pic up if you want (at low speeds) - 1/4 throttle? I jet my bike more on heat than plugs personally, but i pull a plug to make sure its not terribly off atleast.. It will run hot if your lean or rich - so keep that in mind. I can put my hand on my cylinders for atleast 3 seconds comfortably, all day long.

Well I can tell you this. I had a drag ported dune bike that I ran in the sand and play rode. It had a stock head and I put a mopar 205 degree dummy light switch directly threaded into the coolant passages in the head. The overheat light never came on, and I know it worked.

The power increased when i put the lower jets in, i actually hanged better with my buddy. Why would he be beating me, mine is bored 30 over and the timing is set at 0 now. Also if it isnt normal for it to heat up like that then what else could it be? And what did your bikes do when they got to 230? Also i think most of that noise i heard was the water boiling when i had straight water in it.

DONT run strait water in your shee, unless your wanting more problems.. 230 isnt terrible, you just gotta get moving (shouldnt be 230 for long), if its still getting hot at low speeds you might be too lean?? How many jets did you go down? But get the coolant in there, i run regular premixed coolant, any type will work fine. Alot of people like engine ice, although i've never used it before, all i hear is great stuff about it.

someone on here told me to go up a jet size last season i went from a 200 Stock to a 210, i just went back to the 200 today and it seems to run better. The plugs were black before, i put new ones in after jetting it down now there tan. So my jetting should be fine, also there are no air leaks, it runs fine until it gets hot. I will ride it tommrow and see how it does and i will let you guys know.

lean is mean, but that doesn't mean its right or will last... i would do A plug chop,do A low speed check, & put your coolant of choice (not st. water)

when mine gets that hot, I air it out or, if there isn't room, just shut it down for a few min's & good to go

Well, you just got to remember, experience comes with age. I used to be 18 and I thought I knew it all too. I had to learn that I didn't know, then I had to learn everything I know now.

Well im pretty sure it has nothing to do with overheating now. I rode it today and tried everything to heat it up fast never went above 210. But it still does it after awhile it starts sounding more deeper ( like airbox noise gets louder) and starts idling kind of rough, it doesnt feel like it loses power. I got so pissed i pinned it in neutral and held it there for about 5 seconds, i dont know what to do! Do banshees have rev limiters, do you think i could have hurt something holding it there for that long. Im stumped, im almost ready to take it to the stealership, but i think they will just say its running fine. About the only thing i havnt replaced is the reeds and the look perfect, no cracks etc. Could it be the tors system. Also i have a brand new stator set at 0 and a brand new coil with new wires and plugs. Engine is one year old has vitos crank and wiseco pistons bored 30 over
