the only mods you have to do is to cut or grind down two ends of each a arms were the bolt attaches the a arm to the frame of the bike. thats it

to be honest im still putting my 450 a arms on because im waiteing on some parts to complete the swap out. you should talk to 2003limitedbanshee. hes making some sweet spacers for the conversion. i should be getting mine this week. so once i get it together i will update you. i have heard though that the swap works great. supposevely you gain +2+1 but who knows for sure?

you dont need to run the spacers. i was wondering if you could just drill out the hole to the stock dust cap ?

Peter, you should be getting yours this week, I was actually able to drop them on Saturday instead of Tuesday like I had thought; didn't realize USPS would be running on Saturday with today being a holiday. Thanks for the support, let me know how you like them. While it's true that the a-arms will pivot just as normal without spacers, it could potentially allow the a-arms to be bent if you don't have them supported in some way. Here is a picture of the spacers I designed for the swap...

If you don't run some sort of spacer, and I'm not saying you should, have to or whatever, run my spacer, but without a spacer the aluminum spacer section in my photo would have no support. Therefore, you could bend the arm easier as it could slide on the stock sleeve until it hit the inside frame mounts. Also, the stock sleeve will be too short as it is designed to sandwich in between the dust caps at both ends. Some guys just tighten theirs down and let the flex in the stock frame mounts take up the gap they are left with, but I prefer not to do that. Like I say, I don't care if you run my spacers or not, but I would run some sort of spacer regardless. - Brian

EDIT: Almost forgot, as far as track/wheelbase improvements. Yes, you gain 2.25" per side, making your front end 4.5" wider total. As well, you also gain 1" forward on the wheelbase. Both of these factors greatly improve how the bikes behave. You cannot correct the front end geometry with a-arms, but you can make the ride and handling better. Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have.
