450 kawasaki

There are a few members on here that can confirm my dune bike runs pretty hard!!!! I have no reason to lie.............. But yes I am a very good rider......Better than most!!!!! The other wild card is I have drag raced/built/tuned motors all my life. I know how to setup and tune a bike to run better than most and beat bikes it should not.

right on... my only experience dragging against a Z was a pretty much an all the bolt ons bike with cams and a high comp piston and i killed him, but my 450 has the same stuff as him so i wouldve expected it. I would have to see a Z beat a 450 to believe it. im not saying youre lying im just unsure of the bikes potential and i cant see one with out heavy mods example: big bore stroker etc... beating a 450, even a stock one but who knows.

Neighbor bought one despite me and everyone else telling him to wait a year and not buy the first year. He said Kawi was having issues with the pipes getting hot and melting the plastics already.

 

haha that blows, but yea thanks for all the posts. A lot of the guys i ride with are saying the same thing "wait a year or two and let them get the kinks out." Ok well I'm not waiting a year let alone 2. I'm getting a bike now. I think I'm going to go with yfz or the trx.

If your gonna get a 450 I say get a YFZ because I owned one, It had alot of mods an it was never out ran an it never had any problems, but if you dont wanna get a YFZ I would say get a 450R becasue Honda is reliable and I rode my friends 450R and it wasnt as peppy as my YFZ an it didnt out run it but its a pretty quick bike and he hasnt had any problems wih it either.

 

what kind of mods we talking? would this include any kind of engine work? don't really gona have to much money right away after buying one and more money into an engine i just bought is not really on my list.

As far as I know you can only do the cam mod on the 439cc models, I think he is looking at a brand new one.

 

It would be an 07 or POSSIBLY 06 and what does the cam mod do exactly?

If I'm not mistaken the cam mod retards the cam timing by moving the cam chain a tooth or so, free horsepower pretty much. I'm not sure how much, maybe 1/2 - 1hp? I've heard conflicting stories, so I'm not sure.

the cam mod can be done on any yfz we just did it to my buddies 06 a couple weeks ago. it does make a difference and its free so give it a try. also if your gonna install a kickstarter like i did you will want the cam mod it will make it 100 times easier to start. the cam mod is the yz450f timing which is just retarding the exaust cam 1 tooth.

how much that kick starter uh kit? cost and was it easy to install ?

My YFZ had cams and had been timed to 450F specs, HMF full pipe it was jetted, I had a rev box , boyesen quickshot , K&N pro flow, that was all of the motor mods it had and it had stock gearing,

My friends TRX 450R had a white bros pipe and a UNI pro flow, when he decided to have his motor re-built he had them put a high comp piston, cam, an his is geared different and I still outran him , both our bikes were the 04 models . His bike is fast but my YFZ was faster to me after riding both an how we compared in drag races the 450R just didnt have the top-end power like my YFZ did.
