HELP! Clutch Issues!

Recommended Posts

I just installed my first clutch in the Banshee. I bought the billet basket, and clutch kit from Jeff. Everything is in and done but the clutch is not releasing. I can start the bike in neutral, but when I kick it down to first the bike dies. I know there is the adjustment on the pressure plate with the bolt but I followed the instructions in the manual and it still dies. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Thanks in advance.

Did you soak your plates? If you feel resistance on the clutch lever like it is disengaging, you probably just have plates sticking together. Rev it up a bit, pull the clutch and drop a gear. This will break the plates loose. If it keeps doing it, let me know.

I figured it out. I searched and found a post from last month from a guy with the same problem. I didnt know that you have to remove the factory O Rings when installing the aftermarket clutch. I removed them and it totally fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.

there is probavly something you did without realizing it, the outer hub where the clutch springs bolt on is phased. If its not flat against the end clutch pack it will do what you described. You probably had it a notch off before, then removed it to take out the o-rings and put it back in the right spot. Did you put the steels in in the right direction?

NOt sure how you got those Orings in there. I have never had anyone do that yet. There is not really enough room for them. Huh, well, glad to hear you are up and running.
