bigdaddy69
Right now I basically have a brand new dune play port by Jeff @ FAST. Its just not fast enough for me though, I want more! I need someone to tell me what you think I can get of of the whole top end if I was to sell it? Also about how much more money am I looking at if I was to go with a cub? Right now my carbs are 33 PWK's would they work with the cub or is bigger better? I guess I'm just needing a little convincing from you guys, thats all. locogato11283
first off, those cylinders will sell easily. jeff has an excellent reputation here and many other places. ppl know his shit runs well. how much time is on the top end? next, talk to jeff about a cub. he can get you one and can give you exact prices. thatd be the easiest thing to do. last, those 33mm pwk will be fine for a cub motor.. bigdaddy69
This top end has 3 tanks of gas through it. The entire first tank was strictly break in though.
FASTOYS
If you want to go F.A.S.T. , then tweak what you have! There is plenty more you can get out of that bike with different components such as CPIs or Shearers, V Force, Cool head w/domes as im sure you dont have hardly any compression with a .030 cut head and that porting, gearing, more porting if needed, less timing, etc. etc. etc... IF you still think you need more i will more than gladly trade you out.
bigdaddy69
LOL I knew you would see this Jeff. I agree with you totally, but if I'm going to spend all that money on all the extra goodies why not sell what I got and spend the extra on a cub. Dont get me wrong this motor is FAST in the sand I havn't lost yet. On dirt thats a different story, but i lose because i just blow the tires off of it. Too much power and not enough traction. Expect a call tomorrow or the next day.

Expect a call tomorrow or the next day. if you think you blow the tires off now and have traction issues, wait until you run a cub motor. the things that Jeff suggested that you get for your setup now your going to need for the cub any way, "CPIs or Shearers, V Force, Cool head w/domes". it's not wasted money. listen to Jeff, get what you need and if you're still not satisfied then you'll have all the goodies already to compliment the cub. Exactly  Bigdaddy, your first post was that it wasnt fast enough but your last post says you havent been beat in the sand but cant hook up on dirt. I can give you all the power in the world BUT its up to YOU to hook it up. Are you running stock tires in the dirt. Might try some of these: http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail....artid=174\ Call me and i will more than gladly give you some tips for hooking up..
bigboybanshee
There are also other factors to consider about getting a cub setup...you'll need to buy a longer swingarm, definitely will want different pipes. It would also be beneficial to run an aftermarket head and reeds too. Given that these parts are interchangable between the stock cylinders and cubs, I think it would be wise to go ahead and get some better pipes, along with a head and bump up the compression before you fork out more money on the cub. You'd probably notice a big difference just by switching pipes. Those things mentioned would need to be purchased anyways if you got a cub, get them now and try it first before getting the cubs....just what I would do...Jeff's dune port when tuned right is right there w/ a 358 cub Also keep in mind that when it's time to rebuild a cub, it's new pistons/rings and NIKASIL, LOL. That's a good 300 bucks for the nikasil job alone, not like your 80 bucks to bore/hone the stockers...something else to consider <edit> lol, by the time I finished typing this cam and Jeff already jumped in and said what I was thinking....damn I'm getting slow
dajogejr
You've got some choices to make....that's for sure. If you're gonna go cub, if you haven't already, think about a lockup, override, even longer swinger...etc. Going faster is a sickness...from stock OEM with bolt ons in 05, 4 mil cub on gas in 06...now I'm on a 10 mil on alky in '07. Next year...well, I'll figure that out later...LOL. You're in a good position to sell some of your old stuff to negate some of the costs of a cub build. If I were you, I'd let Jeff open up the porting more, get some Shearer pipes, 35PWK carbs or bigger (cubs lover bigger carbs...so do dune/drag ported cylinders).... I take that back, get suspension, tire and gearing work first, then open it up. Cubs are gonna blaze the tires (as Jeff's port will, too) with knobbies on, period. I had my 4 mil on grass...thick grass, with nearly new holeshot XCRs...it still blazed them on that grass. <Stoners start laughing here...> Overall, I'm confused too, though....you haven't been beat on sand, it's your own fault on dirt for losing, but you want more power??? I'd do the bolt ons that will carry over to a cub, more compression, better pipes, etc....
dirt-riceburner
Don't do it unless you got lotsa money. I'm in that stage right now. I had a nice ported setup with all the right fixin's until I was spoiled by my bud's 7mil cub. Except I went with a 4mil thinking that it was only gonna cost me $1500. Boy, was I wrong. after getting a crank and a cub, that was $1500 right there and it was just a start; 38pwk carbs - $350 Sherearer - $650 Lockout - $400 Big domes - $60 LSR +8 swing - $900 chain - $100 And doesn't include some of the things I didn't need to do like powdercoating the frame and case $600, new paint job $500, polisheing all the new stuff $500. But then again, I got me one fast bike and the prettiest bike out there.

It's not just a motor, it's the complete package. A big HP motor is nothing without a way to get the gas/air in and out of it, a tranny and clutch to handle it...and suspension/chassis/tires to get it to the ground. bigdaddy69
Thanks guys. Yall answered all my questions. I guess I will stick with the setup I have now just drop more money into it. Jeff, I agree its my fault for getting beat on dirt but then again its partly your fault for taking all my money and not leaving me with anything to buy new tires! I'll have to admit though it was money well spent I couldnt be more happy with they way this build has turned out already, and cant wait to mod it even more. Thanks for all the replies guys. Next time shop around a little, you could have easily saved a grand.
