spark plugs

Recommended Posts

My 4 mil cub had an air leak the size of the hole in the Titanic...however, it still started real easy...idled fine, etc.

You need to leak down test that bike before you go any further, or else you're just wasting time in my opinion.

All the jetting changes in the world won't help you with an air leak or crank seal leak.

One cylinder not firing until it warms up does not make sense...especially if the jetting is the same in each carb. You have bigger problems...and need to figure those out...

Good advice there.

Also check your ignition coil with a multi meter, Also if possible you might try swapping CDI's with a known good one. It could be electrical if your not getting proper spark. I had an old Ricky Stator 200 watt that showed spark etc all fine, but when I tested with the ohm meter one of the coilds seemed off. Called Their shop and they said the resistance was correct for their coil but it was causing some ported bikes to not run well (mine ran like crap and I went through plugs like mad untill they replaced it)

It's either got be be Fuel, Electrical, or a leaky seal Thats about all that it can really be. Also you cleaned your pilot jets out with a strand of wire or something right?

SLD...if you want to buy a kit, this is a good one.

This is Bob of R&B racing. I've seen/rode a few of his ported motors ...and he's a helluva nice guy.

This is his ebay auction, he sells these kits. (The picture is for a single cylinder, but the actual kit includes what you need to do a twin...no worries.) I know a few people on this site have bought the kit and been happy with it.

You could also PM him here, his name is machwon.

use b8es or br8es there should be no call or reason for a higher heat range plug..

your are changing the syptom by doing that...

we need you to diagnose the problem by figuring out the actual cause not modify to get around the prob. your motor wont last and you will be pissed>>>>>>>>> :shoothead:

good luck on it,jim

Despite what you may think, theres pretty much no way you need 30 pilots in there. Thats probably where your oil is coming from. Drop down your pilots back to stock, turn the air screws .5 turn out from all the way in. (and unless you have the airbox lid still on, 270 is probably too small)

A hotter plug is a band-aid fix. It will keep you from fouling plugs simply because it lets the plug stay hot enough to burn off the excess. You are too close to stock tune to call for any plug other than an 8.
