jayzx10r
I was reading the DaveMoore Racing Thread in the roosting room (kinda funny!!) and the thought hit me... Do most people have someone else work on their 'shees for them or do they do their own work? Obviously you farm out for porting and boring, but do you do your own assembly or just drop it off....?? Jay Form SanD. BTW: ANY company advertising on this site should contribute at some level.... Mutualism works!! Peer to peer sales are one thing but business to buyer is another. just my .02 Pesos. fastrthnu
I put my bike together myself 1 part at a time. My banshee must be made up of at least 30 different bikes. The only thing Id get done by someone else is milling or porting.
letsgetthisdone
I do everything myself, except porting and machining... Its not that hard if you have the tools and a clymer. Edited April 28, 2007 by letsgetthisdone
shanYE west
I do everything myself. The only thing I have done by the builder is porting/milling and cut the domes.
FireHead
The only thing I have done by the builder is porting/milling and cut the domes. I do that stuff mysel as well. As an aside, I think that the HQ populous tends to be comprised of more do-it-yourselfer's than pay-someone=to-do-it-for-you type folks. This is also one of the reasons that L ike this sight better than Planet Sand. :geek:
Handyman
I have yet to split the cases but so far I've done everything that I needed to do I've done myself.
NYUK
if you are not into paying thousands of dollars for a few hundred dollars worth of parts,it is good to get handy with a wrench and a clymers manual.if you own a banshee and are not independently wealthy better get handy with both. I second that. I am by no means mechanically inclined, and I can do basically everything myself. Theres no reason to pay a mechanic when it's all stuff that you can do yourself, unless of course you have a ton of cash.
RIPPEN
Banshee's for the most part are simple enough to work on so I usualy do all my own stuff aside from porting/boreing ect.. However the couple hundred bucks or whatever Jeff charges to tear down, fully inspect, reasemble, pressure check ect.. When the whole motor is there anyway for porting(cases) its a hard deal to pass up.. RIPPEN
casper
I am a moron when it comes to working on quads, I can do the work but have no patience. SoCalinIt is my personal mechanic
RoostRocket
i do all the light work but when its time for a complete teardown rebuild its worth it to me to have a builder do it.

I agree. However, even if you are pretty well off, it is more fun to work on your own stuff in my opinion. In most cases, I have just as much fun working on my stuff as I do actuially riding it. :geek:
