Ordering a Noss head

Hey guys,

 

Early next week i will be ordering a noss cool head for my shee. My question is which domes should i get?

 

1. I ride at sea level (pismo, glamis)

2. I dont know what the compression is right now, but im going to find that out this weekend

3. I was thinking about the 21cc domes (On noss' website they said for a fresh rebuilt 21cc domes would give you 156 compression... i know its approx but it gives me an idea)

4. Do i really want that much compression? Will it make that big of a difference in the ride?

I just put a noss head on mine a couple weeks ago. I ordered it from Jeff at FAST and he said 21cc would be good for pump gas at sea level. I am at like 56 feet elevevation and it runs fine.

Thanks, how much was the difference in power? Is it noticable? I also have a adv timing plate that i will be installing also.

I don't know what else you have done to the bike, but if it is all stock you will see a big increase in low end power going from a stock head with 110 lbs of compression to 156 lbs with 21 cc domes. At the same time you will loose about 500 rpm on the top. All other things being equal, the bike should start better, but be slightly harder to kick. Without pipes and a filter (at a minimum) I would not bother advancing my timing, you will just be creating heat without any real gain in performance.

LOL, yea sorry about the mods thing. I have FMF with power core 2's and a K&N filter. Im looken to sell my fmf's and get some toomy's in the near future also.
