swingarm help

Recommended Posts

depending how bad it is inside the swingarm with the previous bearing it can be a bitch to get out. If you have access to an impact gun hit the bolt with it for a little to free it up. Put the nut back on it, thread it on a decent amount and hit it with a hammer or mallet to get the bolt to slide out. It can take a little depending on how the bearings are inside.

In my case, my bearing were completely dried up and basically left to nothing but the outter casing, if that happens you need to get a screw driver or something between the swinger arm and bearing case and pry it out. Good luck

Hey guys I'm new here and need help real quick....I'm trying to get my swingarm off...new bushings and seals? I cant get the main bolt out...got the nut off...does it just slide out now? any help is appreciated..thanks in advance

Worse case scenario, put the nut back on about a turn and hit it with a sledge hammer, or I believe you can stick a punch in the hollow part of the bolt to keep from damaging the threads, and hit it. The swingarm has needle bearings, not bushings. Mine were demolished completely when I replaced them. It took forever to get the outer bearing race out of the swingarm.

spray liquid wrench all over it and let it soak for a bit, get a pipe and put it over your wrench for some leverage u should be able to get it, and there is needle nose bearings/seals inside the swingarm, one on each side..if they are destoryed bad ull need a screwdriver to scrape whats left out of the swingarm,,also check your carrier bearings too, this could be why ur backend feels sloppy too, put it up on somethin off the ground and try to move your axle around, if it moves inside the carrier, they are shot too...

this is turning out to be a pain in the ass...

thanks for the info..and tips on my axle bearings....I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but id figure id share it.

About 6 months ago i bought new bearings for my stock carrier...find out the old bearings warped the carrier..bought a new one made by Magnum...stock style twin row...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TAPERED-AXL...sspagenameZWDVW

i put it on ..and within 2 rides..my back end is wobbling again...take it back apart and find the welds that hold the sprocket hub/brake rotor to the carrier are cracked/split..both sides...call the guy i bought it from on ebay...he says it hasent happened before...i pay the shipping back and he sends me a new one....i get the new one and put it on ...2 rides later...vuala!!!welds pop again..its at my local shop right now getting welded....so i figured id redo my swingarm while its all apart...tighten things up....

thanks for all the help guys..and sorry for rambling
