bansheeryder_69 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 I had some things powder coated "chrome" they look like crap. I do not recomend this to any one. the color is more like a shiny silver than actual chrome. Anyone else had this problem? Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 You think you can show us some pics? That was PC or Ceramic? Quote
kaotik1 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Yep you got it! Chrome and clear, the clear actually dulls the finish of the chrome, but the clear is needed for the protection. Quote
crazyrotts Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 I think the chrome is ment more for the first coat on transluescent colors. I had a few parts done and it wasn't to bad it looked like billet.good luck Quote
bigboybanshee Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Yep! That is the reason I didn't re-do my latest frame in "almost chrome" PC. My last frame was done with it, and it didn't look bad but it didn't look like chrome, that's for sure... Quote
endofitall9 Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 yeah the 2 stage chrome looks like shit...but they now have a single stage chrome that doesnt need the clear coating on it, and looks awesome.. wifes lil brother had the inatke on his camaro done in "Single stage" powder chrome and it "BLINGS" I'm trying to get some for my Pc system so I can do a few things on the banshee..... bansheeryder_69 Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 I don't have any pics and it was not ceramic just the powder coating that is "suppose" to look like chrome. I want to see some pics of this new "single stage stuff" anyone have any pics? Quote
kaotik1 Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 You can do the almost chrome with out the clear and it will have alot more shine. The down side is that it isn't as strong of a finish. Basically the single stage stuff is chrome without clear, being it's an intake there is no abuse, so you really don't need the clear. Quote
endofitall9 Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I don't know I was just thowing the single stage out there because it is more shiny. from what I have heard from some guys at the drag track that it is just as strong as the 2 stage...The guy that owns the track out here does all the pcing in the area also..its just the first time iv'e seen the single stage but from what I hear it is all over his drag banshee...The single stage is a complete different powder that the 2 stage thats why it doesnt need the clear...You can use the 2 stage powder and not clear it and it will be shiny but not very strong. Wallrat Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 I don't know if he still frequents the board but an old member named DUNEDEMON had a buddy that had come up with some kind of vacuum tank powder chrome method. Trippy stuff but it looked 95% as good as chrome and held up like powdercoat. Quote
