They are complete opposites. Also that much ethanol content tends to clog shit up. There are only certain vehicles you can run it in and if your thinkin about runnin it in your banshee i would rethink that. It just isn't meant for a power increase. Coupelx Posted April 10, 2007 Report Share Posted April 10, 2007 I dont know how ethanol would clog stuff but it is corrosive. they are not complete opposites, the ethanol raises the octane rating just like the xylene and toulene in race gas. i have run it in my turbo 2.3 mustang. I went from 35# injectors to 72# injectors and some tuning to get it right.. It take alot more so you will have to increase jet size considerably. It has an octane rating of around 111-113 if i remember correctly and it burns cooler than conventional gas. I stopped using it because of the cost and the low mpg. it is ended up beaing cheaper to just run premium with either torco or race gas mixed in. jbooker82 Posted April 10, 2007 Report Share Posted April 10, 2007 I dont see why you couldnt if you dont mind messing around. The (R+M)/2 rating of E85 is 105. I would think it would be a little easier to deal with than methanol. Both Methanol and Ethanol attract water. What makes Methanol hard on aluminum is it crosive property with aluminum. That is why you have to purge your fuel system when your done riding. Ethanol would be easier on aluminum parts. Dont get me wrong they both can screw up a set of carbs if you leave fuel in them.
