I've ran vito's super pro lites but they are too short off a skirt and don't last that long.

shanYE west
I'm using WSM pistons this year. Never used them before so I guess I'll be finding out how good they are.
Bansh-eman
weisco... there has been some babel about cast vs forged... forged being they take longer to expand before you can take off and ride or you risk blowing your motor... so to battle this... simple warm up your bike.... FireHead
I'm using WSM pistons this year. Never used them before so I guess I'll be finding out how good they are. Do a search for WSM in the Images forum on this site. I am not saying they are bad, just others seem to have had spotty luck with them. I have never used them myself. If your are interested I encourage you to check it out. Wiseco pistons are my reccomendation.

Wiseco pistons are my reccomendation. I searched and couldn't find anything but some reviews on WSM's most people say they havn't had problems. I think "spotty luck" goes for ANY piston. Since my builder recommended them, thats good enuf for me to give them a try. I presonally dont care for wiseco pistons. I'm not saying there a bad piston, I just havn't had good luck with them over that last few years. But to answer his question, I would think if it was the stock piston on the stock bore and he just honed it. Then I think he should use the stock piston. If he uses a wiseco I believe his piston gap will need to be corrected as the wiseco's need more clearance then the stock casted pistons. JMO I could be wrong.. The real problem here is that I may have been confusing WSM pistons and Namura pistons in my head. Don't ask how I manage such things.
hollisatp
Ok so I have a stock engine, (pistons, crank, head) I have not done any engine work since Ive had it.. It is a 2000 and sad to say hasen't been ridden alot in the last 5 years. Only a handfull of times. One of the replys says that the wesco pistons need more clearnce?? So I cannot just replace my stock pistons with wesco or other? I am plannig on welding my crank also..
hollisatp
Anyone have an opinion on wiescos super stock pistons? Do they really give +8 horsepower gains? Will I need to change my carbs?
FireHead
Anyone have an opinion on wiescos super stock pistons? Do they really give +8 horsepower gains? Will I need to change my carbs? The Vito's version of the Wiseco Super Stock pistons which I think you are referring to will probably not give you much noticeable power increases. You may however find that your repair bill increases as the pistons in question have a rather modified skirt that lends itself to fracturing fairly easily. In either case you won't need to change your carbs with the exception of maybe fooling around with the jetting, but even that might not be necessary.
