chevrolet banshee
so what dos advansing your timeing realey do and how do you do it
Bansh-eman
advacning your timing give you more bottom end and the expense of some top end... you can advance it a fwe ways... first is a timing key ... least preferd method... then your adjustable timing plate... you can advance and retard from +10 to -10 and then there are programable cdis that control your timing electronically.. they can advance your shit alot at low rpms for that bottom end and ratrad it as you get higher n your rpms to get back some of your topend... So all these signatures that post their +7 degree timing plates are looking for more bottom end and giving up top end to get it? Is it something like giving up a couple of HPs on top to gain a substantial hit in the low-mid or is it an even trade of power for power? Is this something I'd want to do? You know me...sand use only!! Thanks for the info... Jay From SanD.
Bansh-eman
its not an even swap for sure but i cant give you an exact amount... there are too many factors.. but the gain off the bottom end will improve your run times becasue banshees lack bottom end already... so the idea is to get that fuker moving casue you only got so far until a drag race is over... if your not getting into you power until half track you already lost the race... so yes id say its a substaual gain as long as its no some 1 mile drag race your doing... chevrolet banshee
ok so its just so you can get in the powerband faster
Bansh-eman
ok so its just so you can get in the powerband faster not exactly... you gain more bottem end power... but you lose top end... it doestnt just get you into the meat of the power by advanceing it... the banshee is known for lacking bottom end.. so you advance the timing to get some out of it... casue if your having to wait until 7000 rpms to get into sme power the guy your racing is long gone... so you advance your timing and get some bottom end power at say 4000 and now your gap is less to close if any. like said before you only have so far to get your power in a drag race... so if your waiting until mid trck to get there you lost the race already.. note all the numbers are pulledout of my ass not actual numbers... My advice is to spend 70 bucks and get the adjustable plate, it is a much better method. It is an easy mod to do, as long as you have an impact gun. You will also need to order a flywheel removal tool, which you can order from Vito's (product ID: FWP). Finally, buy a Clymer manual if you don't already have one. scooter
i think its one of the best bangs for the buck you can do. you can get a ricky stator plate for 35.00 bucks and you will notice the difference. as far as losing top end i guess that depends on your mods i dont think i lost much if any and it wakes the shee right up. on mine i think it smoothed out the powerband and gave it alot better bottom end thats my experiance with it
