Swaie
It seems that everyone can just run off and leave these new 450's on this board. When i raced them be when I first got my bike a 450r with the hrc kit kicked my ass....Baddd. That was on the drag strip. So I spent a little money got new clutches and new reeds(vf3's). And I finally got my chance to prove myself and my bike. So me and the two 450's both with the hrc kits head to ST. Joes (MO.) to do some riding. So we hit the trails. I'm not that experenced of a trail rider but damn I just couldn't keep up with them. It seemed like they were just easing up the hill and I was struggling to make it up. Some hills my motor would almost stall. But then we hit the sand, what a glorious day it was. They mounted up their sand sharks and I was the odd man out with the 4-SNOWS. I was kicking there ass all over the place, and they had all out paddles. Both of these bikes are stock except for the honda hrc kit on both of them. I still haven't raced them on the strip but I'm so curious to see how it will pan out.
lowriderb
in distance you should be the 450's pretty easily, once you get into around 3rd or 4th gear.. banshee's shine on top end... the chassis set up on the 450's is better suited for all around riding to begin with, the banshee's suspension is 20+ years old.. but dollar for dollar your going to go faster on the banshee than any other 4 stroke.. lowriderb
going by your sig, if you have a ported piped and properly tuned motor you should at least be pulling away from them with stock gearing running 22in 4 snows (once you start hooking).. if the port work is questionable pull the head off and measure from the top most edge of the jug to the top most edge of the exhaust port, also take note of the shape of the exhaust port.. that will give you a good idea to what extent the jugs are ported to.. Crazy05
Do a compression test on your bike. Try to get 150 lbs kicking. I think 20 cc domes at sealevel will get you that. Advance your timing to +4 or +6 and run 50% 110 and 50% 91 octane. Check the jetting and make sure you are not to rich or too lean. I add bigger jets til it falls on its face then back off a couple sizes. Traction. Get good tires. I dont know what works in the dirt but if you go sand get some Skat Trak Haulers. 22x11x8 8 paddle. Put a bigger sprocket on the back. Like a 43 and if you cant pull it put even a bigger one on. Gear ratio to tire diameter is important. The best thing you can do though is send those cylinders and head to a professional. You will never get beat on the sand by a 4 poke again except maybe the all out pro draggers. Sand needs longer swingarm with built motor and more paddle. I dont ride hardpan (dirt) so cant help you there. lowriderb
mixing 50/50 race fuel with gas doesnt make your bike run better with the compression at 150 and timing at +4, he may not need that.. you only want to go to higher octane fuels if you have to, that would depend on if it were detonating while running good ole 97 octane.. the gearing would deffinitly effect your run and deffinitly how hard your spinning the tires.. but i would change the front sprocket before the back (they are cheaper to begin with).. changing the front would be the same as chainging 2-3 teeth on the back (opposite of each other..)
