jkylnhyde
i recently traded my 05 trx450r for 2 banshees.. The former 450r dynoed at 48rwhp and i had the skat trak 6 paddle extremes on the bike and the were perfect for me.. My question is will the banshee just spin these paddles off or are they about right? I have 2 stock bike with just pipes and air box lid removed w/K&N.. I ride mostly @ Amargossa and Dumont 25% of the time i drag but i mostly just dune.. i recently was at dumont with 1 of the banshees and i had a set of Sand Stars (wich i dont like) on and i wasnt impressed with the top end.. All i felt like was i was spinning.I dont want to over Paddle my bike and am looking for your thoughts. Thanks in Advance
Snopczynski
Well according to the California duners, a stock type banshee with pipes should easily be able to handle an 8 paddle hauler. On stockers with pipes up here in Oregon we run 10 paddles on them with no issues. All the tires I buy are superlites though.
jkylnhyde
thanks for the fast reply.. i guess it will be trial and error.. 8 paddles sounds a little high for less than 45hp.. sounds like alot of low end bite and no top end.. hell im not sure
Snopczynski
8 paddles is almost not enough for a banshee. Like I said, I run a 10 paddle with just pipes and some bolt ons. Our ported 350's and 4 mill strokers run 11 and 12 paddles. We run 6 paddle taller haulers on the LT500 up here for playing on the trails and in the holes. jkylnhyde
so even though my banshee is under 45 hp and my 450r was 48hp... the 6 paddle extreme is not enough paddle for the banshee and in my opinion just right for the 450r? Now i am confused.. is it because of the spin up and not the HP?
Snopczynski
We run 8-10 paddles on the 400ex and the yfz450 with full pipes. You ever even try an 8 paddle on it? The bashee engine rpm will peak at about 1500-2000rpm more than the 450r also.
jkylnhyde
never ran a 8 paddle on the banshee.. just got it and took it out to dumont on saturday for the first time.. I did run the 8 paddle on the 450r and thought it was alot for the motor.. it ran great and came outof the whole like a champ.. but then just died on the top end.. 8 paddles on the 450r was great for doing wheelies.. but once i put the 6paddle extremes on the 450r it was right were i wanted.. didnt come out of the hole as strong but the top end was excellent.. also felt like it was alot less strain on the motor running the 6 paddle. thanks Snopcynski for answering my ? dajogejr
You guys must have much, much different sand up by you....Snop. Piped shees here run 7 to 8 at most paddles. Once you start digging in the motor and putting the swingarm out....then 9 and 10 come into play. Any banshee with pipes only, stock swinger and 10 paddles is a mofo out of the hole, but dies at half track trying to pull 'em.
SoCalinIt
You can run those 6 paddle extremes on there. I've seen a number of people on here over paddling there Banshee's. I do know that most Banshee's can handle 8 paddles, but with that many, you are going to lose some on the top. Try out the 6's... It can't hurt. It might spin a little off the line, but you will gain big on Dumont's Comp Hill. That hill is really long, so the less paddles you have, the more speed you will get on top. Just my .
sheefreak
My bike dynoed at 85 horse and I run a 9 paddle hauler w/a good rollout and have all the bite I need. You basically want to run as little paddle as you can get away with.
dajogejr
buying paddles is almost an art. You have to take sand type, swinger length, rider weight, suspension setup, gearing and motor mods all into consideration..... Too much hook will slow you down...as will not enough. Snopczynski
Most of our sand up here is standard beach sand (no dust), its quite often wet, and our hills are at the most about 500ft long climbs.
SoCalinIt
He's riding in Dumont... Our hill is long as hell... You don't need to be pulling hard as hell out of the hole to win a race. You need to have a ton of top... The race is won at the top of the hill, not the bottom. Dave said it right! It is an art!
Snopczynski
How many of you guys are running super lights down in California?
