It had a few mods done when i bought it .. pipes ,v force reeds , ported.bored 40 over.etc.etc.. ... didnt really know what else was done to it being im like the 3rd owner .. So me being the no patience asshole i am was bored and goes on the computer looking for a quick bolt on mod .... I order a new rev max cdi ... not knowing my timing had already been advanced ... Bike will idle but as soon as you put it in gear and let the clutch out it dies ... My question is .. am i better off returing the timing to 0 and use the rev max box or send it back ( if they take it back .. think i lost the box) and just leave the adjustable timing plate in ... Bansh-eman Posted March 26, 2007 Report Share Posted March 26, 2007 the timing being advanced isnt whats making the bike die... also the rev max wil do nothing to raise your max rpm by a 1000 like they say... your rpms on 2 strokes are controled by your pipes.. KingzofNY Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Share Posted March 26, 2007 it has to be the rev box ... not installed it runs great ,, no problems .. plug it in .. stall as soon as i let the clutch out ... And i did realise it wouldnt raise my rpm s .. it does have many benifits over a timing plate .as a timng plate is SET at one setting while the rev max box advances timing on take off for best bottom end then retards back to zero as it reaches higher RPMs. Another plus is a hotter spark... but to me the biggest + was not having to pull the flywheel ..which to me is worth every cent of the 60 dollar difference..( 30 for the timing kit +10 for the flywheel puller i dont have) .. Bansh-eman Posted March 26, 2007 Report Share Posted March 26, 2007 a cdi isnt going to give you a hotter spark... the only thing that will do that is a coil... like a nology.... the programable cdis like dyna are very nice like you said they advance to pump up that bottom end and retard it back to give you that top end back... but your not getting one of those for 60 bucks lol... fast500#12 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Share Posted March 26, 2007 the rev max box changes your timing to +4. if your timing is already advanced to +4 then you are at +8 and your bottom end is pretty much nonexistant. set your timing back to 0 and give it a shot. if you feel you need that cdi. bansh-eman is right, that thing isn't going to raise your rpms (pipes) and it will not give you hotter spark (coil). if it ran good before why mess with it? if you have an adjustable timing plate, play with the timing to get the performance you want. good luck.
