Moving To Portland, Oregon

Recommended Posts

I will be moving to the Portland, Oregon area with in the next 2-4 weeks to take a new job with Detroit Diesel. :woot:

I could use advice on good places to rent with with garages. I will be working around the following address: 5420 N. Lagoon Ave.,

Portland, OR 97217.

I will also need to spend somw time at the DMV, so any advice there would be great.

Last but not least, I will need to make new friends with people to go ride with. So if you're up to showing some one around the dunes for a day on the weekend that would be cool. I haven't ridden in the Oregon dunes for atleast 4 years and I assume it's changed a bit (I alreadt know about the sound and alcohol regulations).

I got the job offer developed to a point that I would have to be insane to not take it. I get to run the in-vhicle R&D program for North America and Japan for every thing from Class 8 trucks and smaller. Now I just have to find a way to tell my current boss what I am doing so that he doesn't try and kidnap me.

If you ever want to come up and ride the coastal dunes in OR I would be more than happy to go with you. I am sure I will be down to go to Glamis every once in awhile.

As for me being pirate hooker, that was just a rumor. You can't prove anything, but I will show you what I can do with my peg leg and a parrot for $20. :ermm:

I don't like the sound of alcohol regulation??? Sounds like a big inconvinience.

Good luck with the new job  I hear it's really nice out there!!

Some of the camp grounds don't allow alcohol and if you're sand camping, open alcohol containers are not allowed on the sand. It's all very hard to enforce..............but, fairly silly just the same. Atleast I'll only be 40 minutes from sand now. The only real problem is I hate moving. I have to work on getting a full service moving company set up tomorrow. :shoothead:

I am down here in coos bay, If anytime you make a trip down here let me know, I will go riding with you, Whatever excuse I can use to get out there!

Right on. I will take you up on that offer. As soon as I find a place to live and get a moving company lined up I should have a good idea of when I will be up there permanently.

So you'll be here for memorial day weekend? Thats a pretty big weekend down here. Usually some big crowds if the weather is nice.

Ahh yes, I am still thinking in terms of the California duning season. I will be there for memorial day weekend. I already know that I have that time off as well. Big crowds are ok once in awhile.

haha true true, I dont ride florence very much, I prefer boxcar to hauser runs. I am to impatient since boxcar is 5 minutes from my house to drive the extra 20 minutes to florence.

I have been to Boxcar once and I liked it. It has a great racing hill.

I actually have another question for the Oregon folks here. It is going to be a bit before I get the machine shop swuared away at my new work and I would like to continue to make progress on my triple. Does anyone have access to a CNC machine or two? All I really need is a 3-axis vertical mill, but I can work with whatever. In exchange for help, I would be happy to either make you a duplicate of my triple once I get it out of the initial development stage or I would be happy to do any design, machining, or composites work that you would like (car, ATV, motorcycle, or whatever). :geek:
