sand4ever
Does the DMV only let you take car of one item at a time (license, registration, etc.) like California or can you do everything at once? Is licensing a separate office from title and registration like in WA? Speaking of the bad areas of Portland, does anyone know anything about concealed weapons permits (CWP) or concealed pistol licenses (CPL) (I'm not sure what term they use in OR) in Oregon? My CPL from Washington is still valid, I never bothered getting one in CA, and I am not sure how Oregon does that sort of thing or if they do that sort of thing. You should be able to take care of everthing at once. It will all be done at the dmv. we don't have seperate places like in WA. And in oregon we have concealed weapon permits. That is what they are called. It is a class down here on saturdays and are like four hours long without shooting. real smart don't you think, lets give someone a permit to hold a gun and not teach them how to shoot it. Do you have to go through a hunter education course to get a hunting license in OR? In WA to get a concealed weapons permit you just had to fill out a form and get finger printed at the police station, you didn't have to take a class. They changed waht they were calling the permits from CWP to CPL in WA due to the fact that people were carrying other things besides pistols (swords, sawed off shotguns, collapsable rifles, and I am sure a bunch of other things). I wonder if they will make me take the class if I have a valid CPL in WA? I'll have to go look that up.

Some states do recognize other states CPL's. There is a book written by Dave Workman that lists all the states that do that as well as a bunch of other good stuff about carrying a concealed weapon. If i don;t make someone cry at the DMV, it could very well happen while I am trying to get a CPL. If I brought the triple up to Juniper this summer you would probably have to tow me around the dunes while I make engine sounds. I doubt there is any chance the engine is going to be ready to go in a bike by then. I have come up with a couple places to work on the thing until I get a couple CNC machines installed at work. I am not sure the dyno's in the facility are going to be able to deal with a Banshee engine, they may be too big. I am not sure what I will do if that;s the case. FireHead
If f you ever want to check out Sand Lake let me know. It is really close to Portland, great weekend spot. I'll definitely be down to do that. If all goes according to plan, pending getting a townhouse rented I should be up there permanently before April 9th. I have another question for you guys. What are y'all doing to meet the noise regulations in the dune areas? I know Cascade and Dave Moore make special silencers to make Banshees legal. Are the Cascade silencers the way to go with the CPI in-frames on my red bike? What is the nearest sand drag track to Portland?
FireHead
As an update, I will be leaving California this Sunday or Monday and arriving at my new place on Halsey St. in Portland, OR sometime there after. Plus, I get to pick up my new frame for my triple on the way. I know I asked the question before, but no one answered, what are you guys doing to meet the Oregon coastal noise regulations? Cascade silencers? Dave Moore silencers? I have CPI in-frames on my red bike, which is the first bike that will need to get sorted out. Back then you had to take a 5 hour class to get the piece of paper to take down to the Sheriff's office. I think you still have to take a class but it's not as long and I still have to go to the Sheriff's office to renew it. Might start with giving them a call, Good luck
Jhughes7
usually the sound isnt a problem, As long as you arent being an idiot you hardly ever get ticketed, I know lots of people who run CPI's and such and they have never been ticketed. But if you give them a reason to stop you, they will check the sound.

I am sure I will learn atleast one thing from it.

sand4ever
Even with my toomeys, I am over the legal sound 93db. We just look for the sherriff and then head the other way. But come to think of it, 4 pokes are louder than my banshee. What gives on that, oh well i will just leave it until i get caught.
FireHead
Hmmmmm. I am really not all that excited about taking the chance with getting ticketed. I suspect my current setup is near 100db or so. I may just pick up a set of the Cascade silencers for piece of mind. I wish I could find some better pictures of those silencers on a bike though.
racer
I get to run the in-vhicle R&D program for North America and Japan for every thing from Class 8 trucks and smaller. Like a SCORE class 8? cause that would be sweet. Good luck with your moving.
FireHead
Like a SCORE class 8? cause that would be sweet.Good luck with your moving. No, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) not SCORE Class 8. The Class 6-8 that I am dealing with refers to the classification of commerical over-the-road and offroad trucks. From what I understand, I will be managing our portion of the engine program for a Pikes Peak hill climbing truck and a land speed record truck from PACCAR and Freightliner repsectively. So atleast I am not completely out of racing. Moving is gay. Not only do I have to work at my current job p until this coming Saturday, I have to try and get all the other moving bs taken car of during business hours (cancel cable, power, water, etc.), then I have to do all the same bs all over again for mey new address. It's a good thing the movrs provide a packing service because I am pretty sure I haven't done any of that yet. Plus, I have been spending a bunch of time afterwork, hacking away at my triple so that it will be at a point when I leave CA that I will be easily able to tranfer the machine work to a friend in WA. :shoothead:
